Default "What is that LTPP thing, anyway?"

I’ve been asked by a few people what my signature means; that is, “What is LTPP all about?”

It grew out of a conversation I had with a fellow member of this site whose name I will keep private to protect anonymity.

We were discussing some issues I was having in attracting, and keeping, a fulfilling relationship with the opposite sex.

As the discussion progressed, it became apparent that there were four key components of what I wished to be in a relationship, based loosely on a phrase I had heard on a television program at one time.

The four components are
  • Leader - that doesn't mean being the boss (true leaders are rarely "the boss") but it does mean taking responsibility for those things in a relationship that I can control;
  • Teacher - by example, by my own sense of ethics and values;
  • Provider - to create, generate and maintain a place of safety, comfort and security with my s/o;
  • Protector - to guard against the demands of the outside world and keep "our space" free of negative external influences, to the best of my ability
Hence, the signature LTPP.

I included it on my signature as a small visual reminder to keep those components top of mind. It’s not something that I can say that I’ve achieved yet. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s coming. It's my personal mantra now and, somewhat surprisingly (at least for me) it seems to be working.

So now you know.

I really appreciate you sharing that with us cdn. It's great that you are doing the work to create something that works better for you. It's not easy stuff, I know you will be rewarded. And what a great idea to have such a concrete reminder of what you identify with. Good luck!

Aaaaaaaaaah, so that's what it stands for!

Here's hoping you'll soon find a relationship where you can be LTPP!

cheers,

Short and sweet signature that means so much more deconstructed. Less really is more, is it not?

I really like the way you've described each of the components; the arms of a man who is being a leader, a teacher, a protector and a provider would be a wonderful place for a woman to be at home in.

And you are already being all those things.
