I always wanted to be a musician, but I think that was mostly for egotistical reasons. Over the past couple of years I've been working on shifting my consciousness to a more love based perspective and so I'm no longer sure that I want to be a musician. At the moment, I have no real interests or hobbies in my life and so I often feel quite apathetic and depressed. I realise that I need to find a purpose to which I can dedicate myself and then I'd be much happier, but I'm not sure as to what that should be. Music is the one creative field where I have some confidence in my ability as well as some interest. Perhaps the interest would grow if I truly applied myself? Remember that I am really apathetic at the moment, and so to say I have 'some' interest is about as good as it gets! The 'idea' of writing screenplays appeals to me - perhaps even more than writing music - but when I think about all the hard work involved and all the writing, it really puts me off. I just can't see how I could ever apply myself in this area. I'm still in the process of aligning my consciousness with love and I often think that I'm not really in a position to decide what my purpose should be until I resonate more fully with the love-based perspective. However, as I wait for this to happen time keeps ticking by and I remain uproductive and unhappy. Perhaps I should just make a commitment to music and see where that goes? Thanks for your time, D Last edited by Dward : 11-19-2007 at 10:50 AM. Reason: grammer

Hi, I understand you. There are few things I want to express. First being financially independant is very important. That I have realised from my experience. So choose a profession where you can make some money with in your practial vicinity. Second music interests everybody, very rarely does music doesnt interests none. But what differentiates from making it a profession is the ability to master it and do what ever it takes to achieve high levels in it. For example playing tennis could be just time pass for some and one can think , "oh i am not bad at it ". But that wont be enuf to make a livelyhood out of it.You need immense dedication towards it and do what ever it takes to take it to the next level of winning dough out of it. So analyze your interest and see if you are just trying to find a hobby that makes your life more intersting OR trying to find something to make a living. That will answer your questions.Introspect yourself.

Hi Dward, I can see how you may think that being a musician is egotistical, after all to be a great artist you have to believe that you have something uniques to offer. That's why oten strong creativity comes with a high dozes of ego in these who have successful artictic careers. On the other hand, music offers so much to people, I can't even imagine life without music!!! It would be a sad sad place. So isn't it a loving thing to do as well as 'egoistical'??? You are not really being 'loving' by sitting home depressed are you??? At least as a musician you could offer something beautiful to people? Often expanding your loving consciousness can come only though expanding your (egitistical ?) self-love. Another point I want to make is that the purpose of your life may not necessarily be connected to your career. It may be connected to a lot of different jobs/streams of income/hobbies and activities??? Some of the activities may serve other purpose than money or career. Some may be there for your pleasure, for your self-development or for your sanity. To me it sound like music is not really your full time destiny, but you need it to stay happy. There are other things you can do for money and you will enjoy music even more if it is dissatached from money thing. Wjat it is that you can do is for you to find out. But first do something to get rid of the cobwebs and feeling low. Good luck. What kind of music do you play???

Thanks for all the replies guys - you've given me lots to think about. Freada: I want to align my consciousness with love because I see it as the way to happiness and peace of mind. But I must admit, I'm very confused at the moment and I don't really know what to do with myself. LoveFreedom: I make elctronic music, but my knowledge is only very basic. I find it very enjoyable and easy to create the foundation of a track, but when it comes to adding in all the details and actually finishing anything, I just find it too difficult and lose interest.

Hi Dward I understand that you are confused at the moment. However its clear that you know aligning with love means you have happiness and peace of mind. Many people think that to have happiness and peace of mind they have to be in the right relationship, or the right job or find the right thing to do and if only they could find the 'right thing to be doing' then they would have peace of mind and happiness. So they look outside of themselves. And it never works. Sooner or later they realise that the answers are contained within. So what if your life purpose is to be at happy and at peace at the same time? What would you call someone like that? Freada

Dward, I think you should just go all out towards your musician dream....that is the only way to know if it is what you love. Try writing some screenplays as well. Follow your dreams AND align your consciousness with love. You can have a loving consciousness AND be a musician.... I think it will enhance your experience! GOOD LUCK.
