Hello All,

This is my first post ever... to any forum! (This is the 1st one that I know will be very much worth the time and energy)

Anyway, I feel like I know what direction I want to move in career-wise, but it's a tough road for one to take. How can a guy in his mid/late 20's just go back to school full time? While engaged? With little ability to provide income while in school? Although there is no sure thing in life, I want to KNOW that this is the right direction to take. Any thoughts/similarities?

Why exactly do you want to go back to school? What's your goal? What's your current career? Do you want to change it, or do you just want to make yourself more valuable in your current career?

Without more details it's hard to give specific advice, but...
  • See if you can do your current career part-time, and your new career part-time
  • See if you can find an employer in your new career that will pay or help pay for training (small companies are your best bet)
  • See if your fiance can pitch in with an extra job or some overtime
  • See if you can generate income from some side jobs or a part-time job. Build up savings before you make the move.
  • Take night classes until you're qualified for an entry-level job or internship in your new career
  • Check your expenses and see how much you can reduce them (remember that it'll suck to be without cable for several years, but you're making this sacrifice for your new, fulfilling career)

Welcome to the world of online forums, and congratulations on having the courage to improve your life!

If so, read this

Yes, a little more info may help...

I'm on the agency side in advertising but I feel my real purpose is in helping others in a one on one or small group atmosphere. I'm looking into physical therapy and chiropractic. I suppose going to school for 3-4 years could be similar to starting my own business for the 1st time... acquiring knowledge and skill but with little immediate financial reward.

Set, I've read that one many times!
