Simple question:

Is it possible to integrate ADsense if you're opening a blog on blog.com?

I was thinking for beginners, blog.com would be a good place to start off. However, I don't see the how people would value your blog or take you AS serious if you had a domain name.

Yes, but you need a premium (paid) account.

Another alternative is blogger.com, where you do not need a premium account.

Yet another alternative is to buy a domain ($10~), cheap hosting (few dollars a month) and utilize free Wordpress blog - just like Steve does.

If you plan on making any considerable money off of Adsense, you need to make the leap into owning your own domain name.

I recommend Bluehost (bluehost.com) to host your domain. I've really enjoyed their service and they are pretty cheap/reliable. The best part for me was that they have a program called Fantastico that installs Wordpress in a few easy steps (Installing wordpress manually is something that I know I'd have trouble with).

Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Yeah, I was just wondering. Is bluehost really good? I've used other hosts that I thought was good.

I'm looking at eleven2.com actually...and yeah most legit web hosts will have Fantastico offered.

Well I'm new to having my own domain, but Bluehost has been reliable and they only cost 6-7 dollars per month while offering I think 3000gb of bandwidth per month. I've called their customer service a few times also and they are very friendly and helpful.

I was on Yahoo before Bluehost so it was definitely step up for me.

But like I said I'm not an expert on domain hosts. I'm just recommending Bluehost since I'm very happy with their service.

I've got a one-click install of WordPress in the Steel account on HostingForAQuid.co.uk, which costs about two bucks a month. There are a couple of Pavlina members hosting through me that can give you a testimonial.
Only thing is, 'cause of the ridiculously strong British pound, I can't give you such a great deal on domain names. Ten quid for a .com is reasonable in the UK, but it translates to about twenty-one bucks US. However, a pound a month (just over two bucks) is still very cheap for hosting. I guess it's up to you to figure out whether the tradeoff's worth it.

I wouldn't go with BlueHost/Dreamhost. They oversell like crazy; you don't really get 3000 GB bandwidth/month. I use StayHosted. You know what you're getting, and they have a really cheap $1.95/month plan if you're just starting out.

What do you mean by "you don't really get 3000 GB bandwidth/month"?

My assumption is you mean that if every client actually used up the 3000gb/month promised to them, Bluehost wouldn't be able to afford it.

Are bluehost and dreamhost owned by the same people? I have not tried to determine this before and am curious.

I would suggest going with Blogger.com and purchasing a domain name for $10. Blogger is free and the service is super simple. They even make AdSense integration a snap! You can learn all about it and more on my site (in sig) if you're interested.

Hope this helps!
