Hello all you bloggers out there, I'm building a new website, just for you to spread the word about your blog.

I'd like to know what kind of marketing, advertising and other websites you do to promote your blog and what would like to see in a website that would be designed especially to help you share your blog and all it's wonderful contents.

I don't blog, so I don't know.

I think the thing that would best help in this way is to have a mini-search engine eventually.

However, that might be a little beyond your abilities (it's waaay beyond mine!), so for now a simple link-title and brief synopsis for each one makes sense.

Maybe a place for people to rate the blogs would be helpful, though it might discourage people who would otherwise end up eventually writing incredible stuff.

Either way, I think this is an excellent idea, and I'd love to sign up when you've started!

Also, a place to put up my services as an astrologer, psychic and counselor would be nice, though this might be a little off-theme.

Hey Max,

If you can provide a link to even the basic design, it would help. I haven't been a big blogger, it was more testing the waters. I did for a bit, and recently took it down to focus on other concepts.

Just a general concept is how to get the word out.

With so many Blogs out there, it's like a drop of water, in a downpour.

So effective advertising and targeting is helpful. And to reference you're other concept, useful user feedback can differentiate. But as Steve pointed out, that depends on the idea. And how it is approached.

A friend told to me that a digg like site just for bloggers and their headlines could be useful.

As a blogger you come to zoowise, add any or all of your article headlines and then let others vote, share and comment them. The community decides which are the best by voting them onto the front page.

We don't source blog article headlnes/titles, bloggers come to the site and add their own. If other people like your article headlines, they become popular and you get more traffic. The better your articles, the more traffic.

The voting community helps others find good blog content which helps you create good blog content and you get traffic, sort of win-win really.

Not sure if anyone is doing this, digg do social news, technorati seem to source your blog by themselves then cross refernce other related blogs.

Anyway just an idea to help the community, I'll set the site up and post it here for all you wonderful bloggers and you can tell me what you think, if you have any other good ideas for it to work let me know and I'll try to put them in.

Actually they're called blogposts I believe, but it doesn't matter, I found a website that does exactly what I was proposing, so it's been done, although their focus is on bloggers and not the general web user using blogs to find out info. So there could be still be an underserved niche within bloggers.

Technorati and Icerocket aren't enough for you? (those are just sites I've heard of in passing, I don't have much interest in blogs for the sake of blogs).

even though its already done it doesn't mean you can't step up the standards and make one better than theirs.

it'll take a lot of coding though and maybe some money.

Bloggers utilize social sites, bookmarking sites, etc to get their message out, so my thought would be that if somebody created a resouce with all the links to these site in one place that would be very helpful.

I organize them in my folders in IE but if I had a site that had all this info in one place, I would be more apt to visit it often.
