| I got my blog up a few days ago and it is becoming very successful so far, but I am not sure if it will last. I do love writing, and by doing this blog I would like to make a little money doing it. I want to make a career out of writing (without rotting in an office all day). The thing is, I have a degree in Computer Science and I really don't have any other valuable skills yet. I know the world doesn't need any more tech blogs. What's on my blog right now is a bunch of rants and a few philosophical posts, do people actually donate or even read that kind of stuff? I know Steve makes a ton of money because his blog is very valuable. He helps people and really gets down in emotions etc... I don't see how ranting would bring in the cash. I might be valuable in other ways, but I can't come up with any ideas to try. What's valuable? What do people want to read about? |

| The answer to, "What's valuable? What do people want to read about" is sex... See here... "the Adult Internet industry generated over US$900 billion in revenues in 2000 making it account for 13% of all revenue generated on the internet and making it the #1 product/service on the Internet today!" . |

And you are quite correct in saying that you should go in a field where you can help people... you can get both money and personal satisfaction by doing that... which is certainly not the case in the "adult" industry where money is the only motivation... The very best of luck to you... keep on searching and you will find what you are looking for... . |

| I reckon your site is great. The article about America was interesting. I enjoyed reading it. The site looks great, good web name, good pictures. Keep doing what you are doing. Only provide quality blogs. Don't feel pressured to write just for the sake of it. Don't worry about making money at this stage. Have a bit of fun and if more people are going to your site then you can then work on the money issue. Good Luck

| Actually, you can make money with ranting - unless you talk about things no one cares about and take yourself too seriously. If you do it right it can entertain a lot of people, and that will always be a good way to make money. A good example is Maddox. |

You need to find your own passion. People want to read something passionate. I subscribe to the podcast management tools, because I like the passion that the guys project (at the same time I am a student so I am neither a manager nor have someone who manages me). Don't focus on making money, find something to be passionate about and share it.

| Thanks everyone. I mostly rant because I always have something to rant about. I'll take your advice and keep running with it. I don't want to offend too many people. I know Maddox does that, and people love it, but it's just not in my nature (at least not intentionally). |

| If you are passionate about philosophy... how about writing about the "Corporate Philosophy of the Ferrari Corporation." What makes them so appealing to people...??? What makes them leaders on their field...??? What is the attraction for everything that they produce...??? And, most of all... how can the upcoming young lions use that philosophy to achieve the same quality and excellence in their lives and professional endeavors... . |

| Sorry for the typo. Quote:
You can also critize something with passion. But when you just write to fill the space, it doesn't make any fun writing or reading it.
