Im tired of working Hard... and steadfast on working Smart from here on out...

You will only find a mentor if you something of equal value to offer that mentor... no one gives without expecting at least equal value...

So, if you do not have something to trade with a mentor, you are left with only one option... and that is to become your own mentor... and that is done by studying the various branches of personal development along with the areas of expertise relating to whatever field that you want to get into...

However, right at the onset, I detect a flaw in your mindset... you say that you are tired of working hard... and, unless you do work hard... you won't get anywhere... there are no free lunches... and very few shortcuts... everything has a price and that price must be paid... you can learn that now or further down the road... but you will not change it...

The very best of luck to you... and always remember... were there's a will... there's a way...

Look around in your environment. There are a lot of mentors...You are just not paying attention...

At this moment someone might be looking up to you answers too...... pay attention!

Unless you're going to pay someone to fix your life, you'll have to do it yourself. You don't need a mentor, you have hundreds of mentors right here, all free.

Just ask very specific questions and you'll get very specific answers. You say you want to have several businesses and be successful and are tired of working hard, that's great! What kind of business do you exactly want to start, instead of spreading yourself to thin, just focus on one thing, one thing you can start right now.

If you could wake up tomorrow, what would your world look like?

Define it and be very specific, then go hunting

Max

In addition to some of the great minds here, there are tons of internet forums specifically geared to different industries.

If you could give us a more specific idea of what sort of business you're wanting a mentor for, maybe one of us could get you a link to a forum that focuses on that.

In addition, another way to get a mentor is to simply begin working in the industry you're interested in.

Say you want to own a restaurant. Even working as a dishwasher gives you the real "inside look" at that sort of business, and you might just meet someone who could help coach you along.

One thing I might caution you about: saying that you're tired of working hard. As a business owner myself, I can tell you that you'll put in more hours than you ever dreamed of doing as just an employee.

The small business adminstration used to have a program that matched mentors (volunteers) with people starting up, I think you had to go to their class to qualify, but the class was a pretty good and helpful thing too.

I think that program is SCORE. Retired business men/women offer advice. I think most major cities have an office.

Good, because "getting somewhere" will likely take working harder than you ever have before. It seems that most all the well paying professions involve working at least 60-80+ hours per week for years, and people starting their own successful business are apt to work at least that much.

At my school there's an entrepreneurship club. One of the students took time off from school to start his own business and in just over a year reached $1 million in sales. He worked over 80 hours per week and took no salary up to that point. If you can handle that go for it. It seems to take a lot of hard, focused work to break orbit, but from there the sky's the limit.

The main thing that holds me back is simply the state of not being sure the material rewards are worth the commitment involved. I already get everything I need materially with very little effort, so my reasons would have to be for something other than the promise of personal material gain. I'd have to really be able to enjoy the journey.

I have several potential mentors (self made multimillionaires) that I associate with, but to work with them I would need to be deadly serious, prepared to put the work before everything else for at least a few years. For now I'm enjoying my semi-retired status
