Default Where to begin?

Hi. :-)
I have thought quite alot about starting some things up on my own, building up an 'empire' slowly. I'm not sure if that means stock trading or investing in something on my own.

I live in a small town in Greenland (pop: 4500). I have a job as an electrician, and I make approximately $2200 a month.
Right now I don't really have any expenses besides my rent ($350 per month) and my hobbies.
I smoke, but I plan on stopping before the end of this month.

I think that I will be going to school in 2008 or 2009, that will cost a bit so I will have to save up some money for that too.

I have thought about saving up for a taxi, and find someone suitable to drive it. I have heard that a taxi pays itself off in a year or so. After that I would be harvesting income.

I dont exactly know where I am in the world of entreprenours with the salary I currently have.

I would be glad to hear some good tips and ideas from u guys. :-)

-Jan

What are you going to study at school? Whenever you're thinking of having a business, I think it's good to have it mesh with interests/likes of yours. Then it doesn't seem so much like "going to work".

It looks like you are looking over some different business ideas, which is good. Perhaps even find a more experienced person in that field to check your facts and figures with.

The taxi idea sounds OK. Who would drive it if you're driver's sick, or quits? Would it be a 24 hour taxi, or only operate during certain hours. How much investment does it require? Have you checked any of the laws regarding taxis in your area?

Just some ideas to get you started.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.
Im not really sure if its a taxi I am going to invest in.
If I am, I am going to get a taxi license so that I can drive it myself as much as possible, and theoretically make double as much as I would when another chauffeour is driving it.

I don't really know what the education I am aiming for is called in english.
It gives you the knowlegde and legal rights to run a company which works with electrical installations. (and more $$ is I just use it for my current job)

The main problem with finding experienced people here, is that I live in a pretty small community, and the people here who are successful, I don't really admire in some way. They succeeded in their specific line of trade, but I want to go much further than that, and have a line of assets in the future.

Projects, passive income etc etc.
When the first couple of things I choose to do first gets done, I might invest in some apartments. That would give me a pretty good source of passive income.

The issue I am having now is that I don't really know how to start all this up.
I mean, I will figure out how to do all of these things, but I feel like I need to start out small, making capital on rather small investments first.

I dont have many ideas for what to start up with. When I have build a healthy capital, I will investigate further, and choose what to invest it in. With some common sense, I should be able to retrieve my initial investment pretty fast (1 year?) and use that on the next project while getting passive income from the first investment.

What should I do now? Sell popcorn on the street corner? lol

:-)
