Wordpress and Adsense

Hi Friends.

I am Nahush from India. This is my first post to this forum. I seek your guidance thereby.

With great enthusiasm I started a blog on wordpress with the intention of putting adsense and other ads there.

But to my great disappointment, I came to know that wordpress doesnt allow using adsense ads. That's why I was compelled to start my blog on Blogger, which permits ads.

Here is what wordpress has to say about ads

Adsense and other Ads
Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika and other ads are not permitted to be added by users. Adverts that may be inserted when using an external blogging program will be blocked.

Sponsored / paid posts including PayPerPost and ReviewMe are not permitted.

Sponsored / paid links are not permitted.

Text ads are not permitted.

A discreet link to your business in the sidebar or an About page is permitted.

One discreet link to Amazon per blog is okay, but if the primary purpose of the blog is to drive traffic to affiliate programs that’s not allowed. If you’re not sure, contact support.

Clicktrackers and any promotion of the “I made a million on the internet and so can you” type of advertising are expressly forbidden.

We have a very low tolerance for blogs created purely for search engine optimization or commercial purposes, machine-generated blogs, and will continue to nuke them, so if that’s what you’re interested in WordPress.com is not for you.

You may see some advertising on the domain.

Be that as it may I have come across many wordpress blogs which display not only adsense ads but all other ads. How it is so?

Can I also display adsense and other ads on my wordpress blog? Please guide me.

Hi Nahush,

Welcome to the forums. Your question also had me stumped for awhile. The answer is you can't have adsense on blogs using wordpress.com, but can with self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.org.

Many hosts provide one-click Wordpress installs. I use and recommend one such host called Dreamhost. If you do a google search you can easily find a discount coupon. There is also a number of threads on this forum that discuss hosting.

And I will do the same! I have "one click install" of wordpress, but frankly, I manually installed mine. I can offer you hosting for $11 per month with hand installed wordpress.

Nahush, you really scared me there for a moment. I am also starting a blog this summer with the intention of monetizing it through ads, but I have purchased my own hosting. That seems to be the solution to your problem. I would also recommend Dreamhost. I was able to use a coupon and get hosting for $22 for the entire year. That's quite cheap!

I make good money through adsense and through commission junction affiliates. I don't make enough to quit my job yet, and I'm far from rich, but things are getting better every day.
