So I can do what I want with my time instead of spending all day 5 days a week at a boring office job.

I desire money for philanthropy and conservation. As to others' motivations, I'm not in a position to judge their personal desires. We each have a unique path to follow.

Well, I'm not going to kid myself. Money won't make me free. As an American, I'm as free as it gets, but the minute I make a penny and don't report it, I get a letter from the IRS reminding me of how "free" I really am. Money can make me powerful, though. Because if I have money and don't report it, I can always hire a lawyer to clean up my mess. Even better, if I have more money, I can just hire a politician. But I can't be free or powerful if I'm dead, so I have to make sure I have enough money to get the attention of our healthcare system in time of need. And that's the main reason I want money: to survive. Not just 'til tomorrow, or the next day, but 'til the day my body naturally decides to stop fighting. I want to live a long and healthy life, and money can help secure that for me.
