Default Filling out surveys, for money?

Anyone here, familiar with filling out surveys for money?

I've been warned that there are a lot of scams, and it's difficult to tell the difference between the scams, and the legit ones.

So far, no one knows the names or sites of any of the legit ones, nor has anyone named any that they are already aware that they are scams. Everyone speaks in very general/vague terms when advising me on these.

Anyone know the names and sites of the legit ones?

I ask, because my daughter has just signed up on one of these, just to try this out, and see what happens. She didn't have to put any money in on it, so I don't think she's being scammed out of anything.

I just want to find her more info.

Thanks in advance!

Not much help here, but I was also looking for something like this.

I've received offers from "online research companies" that wanted me to pay them a "membership fee", which I automatically assume are scams.

Default I'm doing it...

Yeah, there are legitimate services out there. I'm currently a member of e-rewards.com. Every couple of days I receive an e-mail asking me to participate in a survey. I click the link to take the survey. Some surveys I'm qualified for and others I'm not. When I complete the surveys, I earn a small financial reward.

I've done about 6 or 7 surveys and am close to $20, so you won't get rich. The main reason I'm doing this is because our company started doing surveys and want me to lead the effort to move to online surveys, so this acts as research.

Hope this helps.

So do you work for the survey company (Do you have to be hired by them to get paid)?
OR
Do you mean you work for a company that "wants" you to take surveys for it (Which I am asking if the "company" you work for pays you)?

Yes, I've done surveys. I never reply to the ones that don't pay anything. I reply to the $1 and $3 because all the extra dollars help. I also reply to the $10 gift certificates to Amazon. Those come in about once every 2 months, so I've had a couple of them. The gift certificates typically come from a group called KeyNote Evaluation. The smaller amounts come from a lot of different places--I went on a kick at one point and signed up for a bunch. You don't have to pay anything. I think Mindfield is one of them, but I don't remember the others off the top of my head.
Oh, actually do remember another one. E-jury will pay you at least $5 to give your opinion on a pending case. You should know, however, that both parties don't receive the results of the survey, and that is usually the party with the big bucks that you are helping. That was part of my decision about whether to continue participating in it. They do pay, though, no worries there.

I have also been given the opportunity to apply for higher paying focus groups, from 110-300 dollars. I haven't actually been able to go to the screening process for those, because currently I'm living out of my home city, New York, in which those studies take place. But they can happen on occasion (like maybe, 2 a year).

If you're in the boston area, Harvard Business School does a ton a pays well (~$10). You have to physically go to the site, though, so you actually have to be in Boston.

I suggest signing up with keynote if you like amazon, and trying out a bunch a different places and then discarding the ones that don't pay any money. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Wouldn't your time be better spent creating something of value which will reap real rewards later?

I mean, if you can fill out 7 of these surveys in one hour and earn $20 doing it, that's not bad. But if you're spending 4 or 5 hours to get $20, then you're better off doing something else.

Not trying to knock anybody down. It's just a thought.

You could say the same thing about regular, entry level jobs

Probbably, that articles was written by an author who getting money from those survey companies.
I filled off 8 surveys from one of those "honest" companies, and i've gotten about 3 bucks for a month. I wasted my time at all.
