Default Is it recession now in America?

I kept hearing about the recession in America and I wonder if it is true?

By standard economic definitions, it's not a recession. GDP growth is positive. But there are substantial economic problems in the US, mostly related to high unemployment.

The real economy is growing. The financial system isn't stable yet which is hurting the rest of the economy and holding it back. We are in a holding pattern. If or when we get a true indication that the problems are finally cleared out of the system we should see a large jump in growth.

It could take a year to happen or it might take ten years to happen. What matters is how the problems in Europe,Japan,China and the United States are handled.
