I've recently come accross this forum and thought I'd throw a thought out there for everyone. Forgive me, I do make a plug for a website, but I feel it is worth putting it out there.

Over the years I've watched lots of friends and peers come up with great ideas for all sorts of new businesses or technologies...and came up with a few myself.

It's no surprise that many of them never got past the 'idea' stage. Then, no doubt months later you'd read of a new website offering a service or technology 'just like' what they had had in mind.

The challenge is always the same.

The Idea is only a small part of the journey. Now, ask anyone...how do I get from Idea to Success? Well, of course no one can easily answer that question in a few sentences.

Although, in almost every case the combination of the group's focus and determination over a period of time lead to their eventual success.

Now, consider along the way those groups had many small successes and failures, they collaborated with peers and advisors, set goals and measured the results.

Shortly, we're launching Ideas On Business - Get Started, which we intend as a tool for individuals to collaborate with peers on their ideas, turning them into reality, and on to success.

Check it out... your feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

Maybe you will need to fill some updates ... Well, determination and market would help a lot.

Someone said that "what you do today and the friendships that you make will determine were you will be in five years".

Looks cool; I signed up. Couple of really minor points:

typo on the home page: you mean "lose", not "loose"
Despite the fact that I did this in my house, I wish it had displayed stars instead of my password. Also, in case I should type my password wrong, the double-check-the-password-feature is nice.

And one larger one:
Have you made some kind of provision for non-disclosure and non-stealing? Many of my ideas aren't protectable (they rely on trade secrets because they can't be patented or copyrighted) and I'm nervous about putting them up on a (even password-protected) website.

I got a CD of him with a bunch of audio tracks, I'm fairly sure he said that there somewhere. He could've stolen it from some other guy though, oh noes !

Thanks for the feedback. Typo corrected. The intention is that hidden passwords & type it twice functions will be in effect once the website is fully published.

At the moment, this is a pre-launch registration, where we're looking to form a solid base of contributors.

We're excited. So far there's been a good deal of interest.

The members of this community look to be a great bunch to have on board from the beginning.

Your trade secret concerns are warranted. Any time you put anything out there in a community (including this one), you run the risk of someone stealing from you.

There are always going to be things you'll want to keep close; however, the key, I feel, is to not underestimate the value of openness, collaborating with peers and sharing information and strategies back and forth. The combination of these could very well jump start your ideas.

Interesting idea you have there, I made an account. Just one question. I know your site is in the construction page, but do you just have those 3 pages up so far, or do I suck at navigating? Cause I'd really like to learn more about this.

No, you haven't missed anything. You'll be receiving an email in the near future with access information to the main site.

At that point yourself and everyone who's signed up to that point will be given access to the site. At a later point down the road we'll then open it up to anyone else who wants to sign up.

Aplogies ahimel,

Seems the reverse dns for this new server we're running this on isn't going thru. Some mail providers would block emails when this is missing.

All accounts that were requested are now setup... just go to the login page at the website. If you forget your password, you can get a reminder by putting in your email.
