Question Setting the price for your software

Hi,
I have recently been approached by someone who would like to license some scheduling software that I originally wrote for our family business. The problem is I have never sold any of my software before so I'm not sure what a good price would be.

I would just try to find some other piece of software as close to yours and charge 2-3x the price . But, if your software is highly specialized, you can charge even more than the similar pieces of software, as your customer doesn't really have other alternatives and your software provides him with a great value probably. I just have a feeling that this would work out. If 'someone' won't be hesitatant to pay the price, you can charge for tech support separately too, otherwise just tell him it's in the price.

Jiri,
Thanks for your reply. The software app that i have developed is in fact highly specialized for our type of business. In fact, the individual who is interested in purchasing a copy of the app is a fellow franchisee. Guess it's time to fire up google and do some pricing research.
