Default Does It Make Sense to Use Article Marketing for Affiliate Links??

I understand the concept of article marketing online. But does it make sense to use such methods for one's own affiliate links?

Say I link the word "widget" in some articles with my affiliate link. Does that mean that Google will, theoretically, associate the word with my link and (under the right circumstances, of course) that affiliate link will rank for the keyword "widget"??

I ask because the nature of an affiliate link is such that it redirects, and I think I read about Google not liking redirects....

will it rank?? yes will it rank well?? prob not. for article marketing to be effective one must pick a theme and fit the AFF links with in the flow of content. the link should fit the theme of the article

Pardon my nosiness but just how much do you know about SEO? Article marketing can be an excellent tool if you know how to use it properly. However, you need to do the research first and crunch the numbers if you want the best results.

If you know what you're doing, please ignore what I just said. It's just that so many sharp and enterprising people seem to think that SEO is some kind of magic that no one else has heard of that will give them-and only them-a competitive edge. As for redirects, I think they're usually fine as long as you make them permanent redirects. I'm curious now so I'll spend an hour or two tomorrow reading up on that.

Ta

PS: I've already started reading up on it. The guy at Yoast seems to think you're right but he provides a workaround.
