Question Any WordPress website development experts?

Hey everyone, I have a website that I had made not too long ago for my music, and initially I was very satisfied with it, but now I feel that it looks somewhat boring, and its not too "public friendly" (missing an email subscribe button, the music download page is ugly as well in my opinion). So I was wondering if any of you experts think you could develop something WAY cooler then what I already have?

If you can make something really cool, I'll definitely be paying.

Check it out and let me know

Thumbs up A low cost strategy

If you don't find anyone on this forum to do your design work for you, you can always go over to eLance.com. It's free to post a job and then people will bet on your project. You can select who you want based on price and the strength of their portfolio. You can also get someone Stateside to work for you or get a cheaper designer located overseas.

I've listened to a couple your tracks on YouTube...awesome! I like your stuff.

What's your status regarding:
  • Uploading music to iTunes for pay? You seem to only have 30 sec samples on YouTube. Not bad, but how can anyone buy your stuff later on?

  • Using a Premium template instead of having a custom one made? Check out Woo Themes and Elegant Themes. I've bought themes from both services, they're very good. Unless your music can pay for a custom theme without touching your personal wallet, then go for a custom theme. But if cash is tight, get an upgraded Premium Wordpress theme.

  • Uploading music to Grooveshark? People can listen to streamed music and then buy it if they want to upload to their PC or iPod. I've used Grooveshark since early 2009 and have bought lots of music because of this site. Heck, I'm using the service as I write this post!

  • Your email list? You can create an email list with all the people you have subscribed to your YouTube channel. Just send them a message about your music and what you're doing with your career at least once a week. You can also use MailChimp to embed an email list on your new blog. MailChimp has a free plan and it's great. Upgrade to something more powerful later. More on that later...

You have great music and people need to hear it, especially as your message is positive. One hundred and fifty plus people love you on YouTube, so you definitely have an audience

Again, if you want to pay for a custom design then spend the money. But if money is tight, find a quality Premium Theme. My two cents.

Peace,

Alex

I actually think your layout is pretty good. I'm a perfectionist myself and am never happy with any design I come up with; I always want to change it.

My suggestion would be to leave the layout as you have it and work to add things like the merchandise and additional songs that people can listen to.

You can make and sell your own t-shirts and things quite easily with cafepress.com.

I've seen lots of band sites a lot worse! I think you should boost your content first.
