How come some webmasters disable comments for old threads? I've noticed this, and I'm just curious why some folks prefer old but perfectly non-controversial topics die.

I mean, why would that be a bad thing?? If you wanted traffic to your site and you want folks to participate, why would it be bad if they're still talking about the '98 Yankees?

My guess would be because they wouldn't want to offend people for not replying to topics they're no longer monitoring?
