Just for the hell of it, I'm looking to save/earn an extra $1000 in October. I'm wondering if there's anyone on this vast forum who wants to join in on the fun. It would be cool if we could get a big list of methods going in this thread. I'm going to start by throwing out some of the things I'll be doing: 1. Selling stuff on eBay - I've got a pile of video games, DVDs, Blu-Rays, books, and even a couple of consoles that I'm going to list. 2. Brown-bagging it to work and eating at home - whatever I save from my eating out budget will contribute to the $1000 (see this thread for context). 3. Fiverr.com - $5/gig is peanuts but it does add up. The key is to find something that doesn't have an outrageous time commitment. 4. Renegotiating some bills - phone bill, TV, ect. Anyone got tips to add? |

DO-ABLE! I made the half of it already. My experience is this - to buy a notebook and an electric guitar I am selling online the stuff I don't use, and as I started doing it, and made some sales, and created space in my life, interesting thing started happening: a) People (who aren't even aware of me making money this way) started giving me stuff, stuff that I can sell = more money. I've got a wireless Linksys router, a few sticks of RAM memory, a printer, a bottle of Jose Cuervo among some other things. b) I've discovered that there's a small storage room in the building where I can store the items until I sell them, so I don't clutter my apartment, which is very nice. The universe gave me more space for this project. c) Since I had the extra money from the sales, I started buying things I use in bulk, so I'm getting discounts and saving/making even more money. As I put the money back into circulation, more of it started flowing into my life. The money doesn't like to be stalled, it likes to be in movement. This is a manifestation in process, and it is extremely exciting! I've described the process I am using to manifest money in my article How to motivate yourself to make money Edit: I've expanded what I've written here into an article of it's own, read it here: Earning an extra $1000 without a job: update on my experiment Last edited by Johnny Metal; 10-01-2011 at 06:56 AM. This sounds challenging, and I've been wanting to de-clutter now that spring is here. After I started a thread to learn more about gold and silver investing, I received a thing in the mail, with a catalogue with a scratchie thing, which I scratched and apparently I won $25,000, though I'll believe it when I see it. The company appears to be legit though, and I would have bought stuff from their catalogue anyway, because there were some ace inventions in it...and stuff I really needed to, so it would be good if it turns out to be true, but I'm not getting my hopes up incase it's just a hoax. Still, readers digest have been around for quite a while and are reputable...? But as far as de-cluttering, *I would like to sell all the old tapes and CD's I have in storage as they are all downloaded now and as nostalgic as I am for old memorabilia, it's just taking up space at this point, and I believe in letting go of the old to let the new come in. *I can sell any clothes I no longer wear, and maybe even do a market stall to sell some of my paintings, though I've put that off for a while...maybe it's time? *I have a website and cards now to advertise card reading and massage, so in addition to that I intend to draw on my friends and contacts to try and get at least 3 people to start and will give free readings for the first ten, as I need the practise. *brown bagging it sounds like the go. I've spent too much on take-away and eating out. I really need to cut that out...plus I really like cooking, I just got lazy. Will let you know more when I think of more ways to increase income. * Oh, and I cut off my hair and kept it, so I want to see if I can get some money from porcelain doll makers, or even wig makers. They pay pretty well if the hair is in good condition. Last edited by elucidate; 10-01-2011 at 05:05 AM. |

I have already picked up a few extra (on top of my usual work) writing jobs this month which add up to around £600. i think that is about $1,000 USD already!! I ahve also gotten a new gig as a teacher for crocheting and kniting workshops which is another £300 a month. the universe has been good to me this month too! |
