Hi everybody, I was just wondering what other people do about creating user name and passwords when registering at new sites. Do you use the same one for all? Or create a new one? Right now I have about 3 pages of user name/password combos, I have various email accounts and have registered on many sites for personal and business related reasons: blogs, forums etc... |

Well its simple for me. I usually use 2-3 usernames which are unique to all the websites(excluding Facebook and Google+)And for password I follow this idea. I created non sense word myself and added few numbers after it with punctuation marks.(which I use as password for all the usernames i have on Internet) And add the name of the website in the end to it. For example my password for online store(like Amazon) would be like "naatrreppty267...amazon " Or you could make it more secure by reversing the name of the website in the end. I have a few user names I use, and frequently make up new ones for specific sites. Passwords for all sites that aren't a security concern are the same. Email, banking, brokerage, anything with credit card info etc. get a custom password.

Forums are all the same user name and same or similar passwords. Banking, email and other important stuff is custom username and passwords that have nothing to do with my normal passwords or usernames. | |

For security, I recently ensured I had different passwords for each account of mine. At first it was difficult to keep track of them all (7 pages worth of passwords and usernames), but an absolutely fabulous free tool I recently called "Last Pass" has helped out so much! The slogan is "The last password you'll ever have to remember". I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it! It remembers your usernames and passwords for all various URL's (and automatically fills them in and logs you in too). Best of all, it uses the same encryption system as The White House does when sending Top Secret material, so your information is super safe! LastPass - Password Manager, Form Filler, Password Management You should definitely check it out! Between securing new domain names and login passwords and everything, this has eased my life so much! Best of all, you can login from any computer, anywhere, anytime (with an internet connection) and it'll work. It can generate strong, secure passwords, too. Truly a great tool! If you need a video demonstration on using it and how it works, click here and watch the 2nd video. (This is where I found out about it from.) |
