Right now I have a website that is inactive. A website that has been started and reserved for me but has nothing on it. And about 5 blogs. I was intending to build two of my blogs to go along with the website I have and the other website would also go along with that. The big website is a webforum. The goal is to support, encourage and promote sustainable business and entrepreneurs, consumers and wanna-be's in their sustainability pursuits. I want to have the website and use my other website as a model of a sustainable business. The plan was to use both of the blogs for integrated access within the (ning) website. I had a web developer I was supposed to be working on this stuff with, but she is either avoiding me or too busy to help me. I've been building up my blogs and saving lots of articles for the two websites, because I've been saving things that are focused on actually making me money, I haven't been making money and I'm getting confused about my direction with my blogs. I want to make some money already, but I've been waiting on the web development to put it all together. I'm finding it hard to hold back any longer and yet, I'm not really ready structurally to set up my monetization system. I'm not really sure what to do. I could easily put all my articles I've been saving into my other blogs, but they are free blogs. My ning site needs to be paid for and I'm not really sure I have the ability to make it what I need it to be by myself. Also, I think I've been writing some sub-par stuff on my other blogs because I wasn't really intending to write so much on them. I was just using them to build up some credibility for the point when I'd start with my other website and then use them as back-up pages for journaling and sharing creative off-topic work. I've talked to the developer millions of times now about how I'm ready to get the website ready and she keeps saying she wants to talk to me about it too. At one point she wanted me to come out and work on her computer to start the website and that was about a year ago. I had just given birth and it was difficult to get out. I don't really see why we need to meet in person to get it started. Although I have seen her in person tons of times since then, it has always been just hanging out. Is she avoiding me and should I just ditch the idea of working with her and find some way of putting it all together myself. My life feels like it has an urgent need for me to start working and I've received a ton of good feedback from potential customers, I don't want to lose them. Thank you to anyone who reads all this. (sheesh) |

I'm not sure what you're waiting on, exactly. The would-be developer is obviously avoiding you, so forget her and get busy yourself. There's a lot of free software out there, blogs and forums, and though there's a learning curve involved, it's definitely feasible to do things yourself. That's what I'm doing, and many others before me. I think you can, too! |

Thanks Aminka. I think maybe writing this just gave me what I needed to see what my real problem was. As for starting 5 projects at once. That's just kinda how I am and how I work best. Working on one thing is just not a stable way for me, I get too obsessed if I put all my energy into one thing. I started my ning website over a year ago, and I had another one before that. I have "remodeled" my website a few months ago and just wanted to add a few more things to it before getting everyone in on it. The blogs were also started over a year ago. I've been quite active with one of them for the past few months and starting to get some good feedback and progress. Luckily, I have already started projects like the ones I'm starting now before. I also have a lot of people I plan to get started working on them once I really set it up. I may even have people who could help me set it up. I have people really invested and interested in this project who are waiting for me to start it. Once I actually start it I'll have a lot less to worry about. |
