Default What's the main benefit for the editor that you should adress in your pitch?

Hello, guys!

I'm doing some freelance writing now.

I'd like to learn to make my bids stand out from the crowd.

I've just read an excerpt from Earn1k customer research material on iwillteachyotoberich.com

The idea is to identify your perfect client, identify their needs and adress those needs in your pitch.

I'd like to get some input from more experienced freelancers how to apply this when pitching the editors of magazines/websites? What's are their main needs and concerns? How do I adress them in my pitch?

Thank you!

Agota

Aminka Ozmun is on a distinguished road

Hi, Agota,

I hope this doesn't sound flippant but I would think it's possible to simply ask beforehand. As an aspiring author I know many editors are only all too glad to specify their interests to prevent being deluged by even more materials!

Are you interested in fiction or non-fiction? I know a site like Duotrope.com sorts out the fiction publishers for you, to some degree, so that it wouldn't be a complete shot in the dark.

Good luck!
