I just saw a thread below and it just struck me.... Simply put, if I use a music album's cover art on my site, is it violating copyright laws? How about if I modify it a little bit, leaving the essentials visible (artist, album title)? |

As far as I understand as a nonlawyer: When you write a review for an album it would be fair use to put the image of the album in the article that discusses the album. If you however want to use the album's cover art as part of the header of your website or as some other design element you will probably violate copyright law. Modification usually won't change something about the fact that you are violating copyright law. |
