Hi! I'm trying to figure out something to do with my life. I have goals set for my life and then only thing keeping me from them is lack of MONEY. LOL. I am currently a stay at home mom. I have very few college hours. Basically, I can't figure out what I want to do. I enjoy many different types of work. As a matter of fact, the only thing I've ever NOT enjoyed is transcription d/t lack of real human interaction and having to sit on my butt and type all day. So I'm trying to think of some type of employment that will keep me busy, earn me some money, be fun, and still leave me time for my kiddos. I know real estate used to be a BIG thing, but with the economy maybe not so much anymore. I have no immediate need for a gigantic income. As a matter of fact, my entire income can go to savings (minus childcare expenses) if I would like it to. So in this market, would real estate be a good choice to take on part time? I live in Texas in an area where lots of new homes are being built currently. There is a mix of wealth and poverty here. I keep an eye on listings and the price of land seems to have almost doubled in the last five years or so, while housing is going up but not dramatically. My house and two acres, which I paid $110,000 (it was listed at $125,000) in 2006 would probably go on the market for about $140,000. After we finish all of the improvements, maybe a little more. Of course, I'm not trained to determine these things, so that's just an estimate based on observation. Anyway, does anyone here have any real estate experience? Is it WORTH it? I've worked in sales before and enjoyed it, but I understand this isn't like selling makeup or computers. LOL. What kind of education would I be looking at (besides the license)? Is it best to work for an office before pursuing a license? Is this a stupid idea right now? LOL. I just need a realistic option that makes a decent income to help me achieve my long-term goals. |
