I currently teach a student English through Skype webcam lessons. I was living in Korea and her mother asked me to tutor her, and I accepted but had to move back to Canada. I've been tutoring her for a few months now and she says I'm the best teacher she's had so far. I think I would like to expand this business to more hours per week, because I enjoy being able to teach high school aged students or older via Skype. Although Steve's method of reaching as many people as possible through the internet is great, I enjoy the personal connection of one on one teaching. What would be necessary to expand this into a full time gig? For people who have general online income experience, what are the best methods of processing and keeping track of payments and all of that other stuff? Should I have a small website with my profile, curriculum, resume, and maybe a Paypal link? I know who my market is, Korean learners of English. I think I can understand them the best because I am teaching myself Korean. My partner is also Korean and I will be going back to Korea to visit her later. A lot of people in Korea pay for in-person English tutoring. How can I set myself apart from and seem better than meeting in person? And my main question is: How should I go about getting more students? And although it's not a priority now, but I imagine some day I will not have time for people canceling on me without advance notice and other time-wasters, so I should have some type of cancellation policy. |

I just purchased a product from a guy who teaches English online while traveling the world. The product is good for its price. He gives some tips on how to handle his business and how to get clients. I am not associated with this product in any form, just a satisfied client. Watch My Kid Brother Travel the World and Make Bank Online...Without Knowing ANYTHING About IM! |

The course mentions some websites where you can promote yourself and also where you can download free lesson plans to start out. You need to market yourself though because there may be some competition. I think the product at $15 is very worthy. Are you in Korea now? You can deliver brochures and stick posters near universities or any other place where you think that your prospects may hang out. Seting up a website is also a good idea and you can use Paypal to get the money. Last edited by Alex Barboza; 08-09-2011 at 02:33 AM. |

Well, this is just an idea, but something you could try: - Set up a simple sales page explaining what you do, how you do it, the terms etc. - Offer a free first tutoring session. - Advertise with adwords - Start collecting testimonials and offering discounts for clients that refer other clients to you. |

Teaching English for 2 hours a day. Well lets see: You get maybe $20 per hour if you are lucky. This is $40 / day and 31x$40 = $1240 / month... I hope I do not have to explain further. Also regarding the methodology of teaching a language, and so on... so yea, lol but to be a little bit helpful I will show you a site (Hungarian) from a girl who is teaching English online: Angol online oktatás | Online angol órák - Skype: nm.studio ..::.. Távoktatás feladatok Use a google translate what you need. Basically the site offers free stuff for learners of English so when they google for example "English grammar examples" in Hungarian google they will find this site. And when they are there, they see that the site owner offers online teaching as well. You can even see the time table of the teacher. So the idea works in itself, but you will not get rich from it.
