Default Trying to build myself as a brand, can you help?

I have the website

JUST started the Facebook page

I have some rack cards and matching business cards on order using the same picture and colors. I have some big events in October and am setting that as a goal to have more content and articles of more length and substance written.

I have been doing a lot of free work for testimonials, still waiting on some feedback (well, I have good feedback, but don't have the copy yet)

I have invited my entire friend list to 'like' my page, but so far, not many. I know it has just been overnight. I was thinking about a FB ad campaign, but really need to wait until September to do that.

I read Agota's thread about promoting the FB page and got some great ideas.

I know I need to be more consistent with creating content.

Are there any other pointers anyone has about branding myself? Since I am using my name, it is tricky. I know what I do, and am also refining what it is that I do with each new interaction. I just don't know if it translates.

I am repeating the same picture and colors as a logo until I can afford some graphics help.

So, the FB page, I intend to post daily pearls and questions and be consistent with it. As I have searched the other life coaching FB pages, I notice that they also have very few followers. Is this a waste of my time?

Start with a unique selling proposition. What makes you different from others who are offering similar products and services? This will be the basis of your brand.

Just to give you an example, I'm a motivational speaker but what separates me from the rest of the speakers out there is that I'm the only Karate World Champion motivational speaker. True that there are a few other speakers out there who are also martial artists but I'm the only won who has won world championship titles.

Now, this doesn't make me better than other speakers. It's just a way of distinguishing me from the pack, ie., branding. In all my talks, I do martial arts weaponry so that also helps and reinforces my branding. People remember me for that.

So definitely start with your USP.

There's a product that can teach you that according to the author and to some reviews I have read. I have not tried it but the information can work for you, I guess:

Dude I Hate My Job

I have no affiliation with this guy in any matter, and I have NOT tried the product but you can investigate further.

It took me about 5 months to get to 104 likes... and I know I can get more followers more easily after I've changed some things on my website and write more articles... it takes time, and I don't think it is a waste at all!

I think lots of people don't take people without a facebook page that serious, and they like a way of contacting you that is easy and quick (via facebook).

Be unique.

I just visited your website, and after 10 seconds I still have no idea what you are doing. I have no idea what creative life coaching is, and why I should use it.

By building a brand, you have to excel. You have to be the BEST. As I see it your value proposition is very weak.

Brand? Well, where is your picture on the front page? What is your name?

How to go from here...
I would redesign your webpage and Facebook site. Make it VERY CLEAR what you are doing and HOW you can help people. Right now it feels like "just another website".

Thank you all for looking

I will go back and be more succinct. I realized when clicking the link that that it didn't go to my homepage, I fixed that. On the homepage, I explain what it is that I do.

My name *is* the name of the site, and I will take your advice and go look at it with fresh eyes. My picture is also on the homepage.

Kaie,

It seems to me your brand is New Age/ Spiritual guidance & life coaching.

I'm an atheist who is interested in entrepreneurship. As soon as I saw "timeless wisdom of Tarot" I was like....... out of there!

But that doesn't mean there aren't people out there looking for your brand of Life Coaching. I would definitely emphasize the spiritual nature of it because that seems to fit you and your brand.

Best of Luck!

What do you mean by people not taking you seriously without a facebook page that serious? Do you mean a personal facebook page, or a facebook page of your business?

I'm also curious, out of the 104 likes on your page, do you recognize most of these people as your friends, or are there a lot of "strangers" whom you likes you from your website and not you as a friend?

It's what I've heard, how true it is, I don't know. But if you are not a huge corporation, people will want to talk to you easily. Feel a connection, feel like they know you, before they buy from you. Having a facebook page makes that possible a lot easier.

It can be your personal facebook page, or a facebook page of your business. I'd suggest creating one for business, because your future clients will not be interested if you had a party that weekend, where you friends might..

I think about 2/3 is strangers, and 1/3 is people that I know.

Thanks Sandra for the reply .

If you don't mind me asking, do you know how many of those "strangers" have connected one on one with you via your facebook page?

Hello Kaie, congratulations on all you have done. Your overall look is very pretty and your site is easy to navigate. Have you considered putting your consultation fee on your page? I think most people would want to have some idea of the cost before they make contact. You can add a reference to package rates or put a range if you don't want to be specific, but I think it could help you get more interest if you gave people some idea of the cost. I noticed you had it for the parties, but I didn't see it for the coaching.

Regarding FB, I agree with SSandra that it is really useful. I started mine a year ago and it has really grown. I post once or twice a week, so if you aren't sure you want to post daily you could just do a couple of times a week and see how that works for you. Good luck!!

Lisa

Interacted as in "liked" things; a few.

To be honest though, I haven't used it as much as I could have. I have daily updates and that's about it. I know when I become more interactive with it, people "liking" it will as well.
