| I was thinking about starting computer based bussiness so I have few questions and need your help. Although i'm computer science student i don't have knowledge big enough to start working by myself but i would like to start something while i'm on college. I would like to have a small company without people employed , but something like collecting people for one project, finish it, earn some money and then start over with the same tactic. That way i could earn some money to stand on my feet and mybe later employ someone on long term. Problem is that it seems little risky because it would be hard to set time limits when you have to find people to work before starting doing anything. Maybe using freelancers would be a good thing? Should i give complete project on auction for freelancer or it would be better to cut it down to smaller pieces, and is it hard to put all that together by myself when project is big? P.S. I didn't say, i'd like to start with some web design, collect some money and buy servers for hosting. If it becomes something bigger i will orientate on making information systems and software.

| it is great idea to start working and thinking about your own business from now. When you talk about web design do you mean just designing an already exist website ? or a website that will be created by a third party or desinging and implementing the website and in this case is it going to be static website or dynamic website ? each of the above alternatives has its own pros and cons ... and some are more costly than others. so what do you have in mind ? |

| Normally every person, is looking for a Comfort Zone. A place or idea that will give them constant flow of cash and growth....and not one time deals that end. You need to adapt your own idea on the above dynamics. Thankz |

| I know that i will create software, but problem is how to start working. No one will hire you because you don't have references which you don't have cause you didn't work before. And i can start on smaller projects but i can't do it by myself and no one will work for you if you don't guarantee regular salary. So i was thinkig about a company that will hire people for doing single project, pay them when job is done and go on.

| Mayo, you sound like you're from FER. I don't know more than pure theory about those languages . First one is used in Ericsson and Lisp has jokingly been called "the most intelligent way to misuse a computer". Why do you ask?

| Placebo, I was in your position a couple of years ago. I would recommend you to start doing projects on your own and then you can put them on your resume. Take up a project you think would be useful in real world. Also you can implement add ons to your school projects to make them look bigger and have them on your resume. Also you might have to think about Internships during summer or even like a part time. Normally companies dont expect a lot of experience from Interns. As a CS background I would say a strong understanding of C/C++ will help you adapt to the dynamic market. Knowledge of scrpiting languages like Asp, Php and Javascript will be helpful when it comes to web designing. I dont know whats the market in Croatia and what platform you are working on. If its Microsoft, then .NET is really hot in the industry and SQL as the database. J2EE would be the other path to go. Again it depends on what you want to do. Hope that helps.
