Default Are link wheels a bad idea?

Just looking at some paid link wheel services and wondering if it's one of those things where in 6 months time everyone doing them has been Google slapped..

Good idea? Bad idea? Anyone using them?

I am also interested to know if anyone is still doing this after the Google Panda update or does Panda not effect link wheels?

I would take a look at this briliant answer from SEOMOZ:

Link wheel: what's and how | SEOmoz Q&A

I couldn't have said it better myself

I wouldn't waste my time doing link wheels. I have tried them so many times and have not had any good results with them. What has increased my Google rankings are article marketing and article distribution (ArticleRanks.com has worked for me).

Instead of spending your money on link wheels invest it in quality content for your site. Way better ROI.

Regards,

Alex
