| Dear friends, Kindly help me contribute to the Personal Development Community by taking this quick survey. Game concept Survey N E O B I A N >>>> The aim of the contribution is to provide a fun and effective way of tracking the individual progress of self development in real world and getting the help of the community when the going gets tough. It also attempts to numerically measure the success of the progress (score) and enable the comparison of two person relative to their personal growth endeavor. It enables someone less evolved, to study the blueprint of a highly evolved and self developed person and to mimic the same (NLP principle), which otherwise would require years of trial and error effort to catch up. The solution will be offered via web and mobile, for users to have frequent access to it, until technology evolves sufficiently to have the solution implanted (always on) in users. Thank you. I have replied to your survey. My first reaction when I saw Q12 was maybe I should not bother. I continued though, and do see the point of it, however I think you may get more responses, if that question was broken down into multiple questions that were quicker to read and easier to answer. I was not to keen on the movable bars either, for Q12 this was kind of difficult the headings i was moving bars against the description above meant i had to keep rereading to see i was doing what i meant i wanted to do. It seems like a good idea, however I am not to sure if a game is the best way to frame the concept. Serious minded people will see a game as something not important, while people who enjoy games may get to drawn into the game aspect and not truly gain any personal development advantage. Just my thoughts |

Orionjoel, First of all, thank you for your patience and suggestions. I will definetely look into it. I can work on the slider part and have it point scale. It is NOT a action/graphics GAME, i have updated the survey, thanks for pointing it. Its more of an interactive game-like screens (RPG character screen with inventory, skills so on where you pick and choose which ones you wish to train on real world) LESSON LEARNT All, Reg Q 12: that is the whole point of this survey. So let me copy-paste it here and if you are interested to answer it, pls head over there.. or just give your opinion here. Description of the proposed solution: N E O B I A N >>>> The aim of the solution is to provide a fun and effective way of tracking the individual progress of self development in real world and getting the help of the community when the going gets tough. Some of initial concepts for public screening: 1. A game like interface with a virtual character(you) in a real time setup through which you play to learn and apply the principles (applicable in real world as well). You frequently take up real world missions from fellow members or mentors, report your progress till objectives are met and unlock higher challenges (in form of habits, attitude changes, virtues so on). 2. Your character has RPG-like game characteristics. The difference is, you gain them by NOT sitting in front of computer but developing them in real world and updating your journal frequently. Your character has a high level of quotient - body|mind|heart|spirit and under them, numerous attributes related to them. 3. Each mission you take up, has a real world deadline. Also, they have four stages (prepare, act, contribute and transform). For eg: if you taken up the mission to quit smoking, you are put in prepare mode until you are ready to act on it (30 days) so on. If successful, you move to contribute stage where you mentor others to quit smoking. Persisting with that, you will soon be in declared "Transformed". When you P-A-C-Ted yourself for higher glory, additional benefits come by unlocking more challenges. 4. You can enroll in taking up individual or group missions with your friends to train together and win together. You can even challenge other groups for greater accountability of your actions (won't you be motivated to do that mission at all cost for your group even if you don't feel doing it?) 5. People are different. They have different learning styles and different intensity of training needs at different points of their life. This will be kept in mind to accommodate all walks of users. 6. In real life , we use these "leverages" to accomplish our goals, including self development itself - Money, Time, People, Knowledge, Energy, Power. However, these are to be earned first, before using them. Inside the game as well, you will mimic the collection of these "resources" at real time by what you bring (contribution) towards the community. 7. If you are a seasoned pro, look no further, enrolling here will attract your students as one can play the role of mentor, student, well wisher, expert so on as they wish. This is also known as blueprinting the expert, inside the game. 8. A host of tokens, medals, virtual objects, rewards, mission completion badges (all free, no real money involved) to recognize hard work, contribution and excellence of members. Each month, ARCHBIAN (higher being) is selected and honored. 9. A social media hub for members to hang around inside the game interface, as well a forums outside for all. Mobile apps in major platforms will help members stick with their partners and friends on the move irrespective of their phones, to add real time excitement in game play. 10. Create custom goals/skills/habits and track your progress. Invite friends to your custom habits / goals and train together. Contribution is the best mode to learn and practise and never to slip back. |

I skipped doing it, even though I really wanted.
Good luck though! |

I filled out the survey. This is one of those things that's hard to judge ahead of time. It sounds kind of fun, but I would have to actually try the finished product. I do believe that people love social games that are competitive and offer rewards, even if the rewards are just digital ribbons or something like that, so that seems like the most interesting direction to go in to me. Who would this personal development game/tool be made for, exactly? (I know you're still trying to figure that out.) Driven people who are used to working hard on their personal development may not need the product. The fun part of it might just get in their way and waste their time. Self-help junkies and people who don't work that hard on their personal development, on the other hand, may become addicted to the product without making very much progress in the real world, or they may think it's too complicated to keep up with and give up. Ideally, it would appeal to both groups. For the dedicated people, it's a serious and useful tool that is also fun. For the less dedicated people, it's a fun way to finally start getting it together. But I don't believe it could be made (or sold) that way. It's got to have a specific audience and fill a specific need. Those are just my thoughts. I may be saying stupid things, or obvious things, or maybe I'm offering a useful word or two - I'm not sure. |
