I'm looking for the best possible book I can read on wealth and business. I have read Think and Grow Rich already and I'm looking for a book that is more along the lines of Rich Dad, Poor Dad I guess you could say. The three books that I have heard the best things about are probably "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", "The 4-Hour Workweek", and "The Millionaire Fastlane". Please give me the best recommendation possible even if its one of these three books.

Just depends on where you're at, what stage you're at. Most popular business books seem to be more self-help type of stuff, only with money as the theme (kinda like X-tian megachurches!)...if that works for you, fine. Most of those should be suitable, as they ply familiar themes of self-resilience, etc. But I suspect the real nuts-n-bolts stuff is going to be rather much more academic! I'm looking for technique and case studies now, actual business models, and so will be delving into actual MBA textbooks soon...the bestseller titles you mentioned are amusing at most given where I'm at now. But in the beginning, yeah, they made for a few hours of cheap thrills!

I've read The Four Hour Workweek and Rich Dad, Poor Dad. 4HWW changed my life. RDPD is garbage. I've heard The Millionaire Fastlane treats the topic of getting your head in the right place for making more money much much better than RDPD does, and the author's posted here on the forums occasionally. The best business books I've come across were: The Personal MBA How to Read a Financial Report The Knack The E-Myth Revisited Small Giants Anything You Want The good authors all recommend each others books. A good strategy is to pick up the book that most resonates with the kind of business you want to start, for example if Tim's idea of lifestyle design appeals to you, buy his book. Then, at the end of the book, you'll usually find a curated list of recommended reading. I learned so much more about Tim's ideas after I read several of the other books in that list, where they came from. |

Hey, how about courses?? You guys believe in those?? Is it just 'cause books are cheaper? I dunno, but aside from school texts, which I've yet to investigate, the business books I've read so far have been at best self-help kinda stuff, not actual "course material"...I'm going to give some of these online courses a try -- yeah it's hundreds of dollars but hey I'm looking at it as an investment.... |

I think Rich Dad Poor Dad is a good book for beginner entrepreneurs or self-employed people, or those working a regular job but itching to do something else.
