Hey everyone After umming and ahhhing for some time andmaking half-hearted attempts on blogger.com I am ready to commit to blogging in full. It will be a personal and spiritual development, Reiki and coaching type blog and I look forward to growth opportunities around keeping a blog. I've been doing my research and will secure my domain name and use Wordpress, but how technical do I really need to be to set up and maintain a blog? I am internet savvy, have basic html knowledge and have managed websites in the past with the assistance of a Webmaster. Do I need access to a more technical person for setting up? Any help gratefully received |

Showgirl, just go for it - use WordPress (most popular) or GeekLog (slightly more obscure and a little harder to get to grips with, but well worth it), jump right in and play around. That's the best way to learn anything, and also the best way to determine whether or not you'll need an administrator. You can always decide whether or not you need an admin later on (if you do, be sure to consider my services. |

I agree - just jump in with Wordpress and you'll find it very easy to use. It has most of the major features that blogger has, along with hundreds of plugins that are easy to add. I also like Drupal which is a full blown CMS, because it's like having Wordpress for blogging along with built-in forums, polls, pages, etc. It's almost as easy to use as Wordpress too. I'm new to this forum - is it ok to post links? I have created a tutorial for installing either Wordpress or Drupal. It's easy to do, but it's nice to have some screenshots and instructions if it's your first time. Just let me know if you'd like the link, or post any questions you have along the way and I'll try to help answer them. |

Showgirl... Good Luck and congratulations on getting started with your blog. You can visit this site to help with creating buttons for your rss feeds. RSS Buttons for Your Blog from TopRank Online Marketing Blog You can select which buttons you want....and with one click it creates the code. Once you cut and paste the code to your site, remember to edit the code and insert: 1. Your blog url 2. Your blog rss feed url 3. The name of your blog You will see where to insert the above info in the code that is created. Wish you the best! Robert |
