Hey, guys! I'm working on my website full time now, however it will take few months for it to really take off, therefore I'm looking for a ways to made some side income to pay my bills. I'm not going to get a real world part-time job (I'm doing odd jobs, though Maybe anyone has an idea is there something I could do online to generate around 200$ - 300$/month of active income? I guess writing would be my most sellable skill, but my English grammar is not good enough for sites like constant-content, etc. Therefore I think it's more realistic to look for some unskilled work, like survey filling or whatever. Does anyone has any ideas? Thanks a lot! |

Your grammar is leaps and bounds above most basic content writers (believe me, I've had a few bad experiences). You could easily charge an above average fee for basic SEO articles. It's still not incredible pay (unless you do bulk), but it can generate $200-$300 no problem. I'd recommend making a simple wordpress website for yourself, as it gives you a massive advantage simply by having one. Once you do that, just create an account on eLance or oDesk and get started. If you don't have any samples of your writing, use a few pages from your website or write a few high-quality articles. For that kind of money, I don't know anything close to as good as writing. It might take a bit of time getting your first job, but with a personal website backing you up, not too long.

you can write content for sites like infobarrel. I haven't used it myself but it follows the same model that ehow used to follow. You write content and the site places ads on your pages. If a person clicks on the ads, the site splits the profits with you from the ads. Like I said I haven't used it but I have heard good things about it. Maybe it's something you can do that can help you generate some extra passive income. Best of luck. |

Thank you very much for your advice! You're right, I'll definitely try a writing option It would be amazing if I'd be able to make 200-300$, since that's all I need to pay my bills in Lithuania (300$/month is almost a Lithuanian monthly minimum wage |

Agota, Try demandstudios.com, they pay ~$15 for an article and there's about half a million to choose from at any given time on a wide range of topics. Sometimes really strange and obscure topics. Once you get the hang of the style they want you can whip them out quicker than 1 per hour, sometimes much quicker. You need to learn American spellings though. Also, you could give language lessons on Skype or in person. Do you speak Russian? There are loads of Russian and ex-soviet-union-country people here in London that don't speak English well, if at all. Also Brits that want to learn Russian. You could probably charge £7-10 per hour for that, putting ads on GumTree etc. |

I'll try demand studios, although it seems they're only accepting work from UK, US and Canada citizens at the moment Language lessons is a good idea, but my Russian language level is not sufficient for that. I could do Lithuanian, though, but it seems that it's not a very popular language |

Elance tip: Ive worked on Elance before, but kept leaving it because i found writing articles a little annoying, but now i realized its value. Anyway for Elance, when bidding, note the following: - In your proposal, dont put a copy and pasted message in every proposal. Repeat the client's requirement in your own words, and say you will offer search engine optimized articles as you are aware of that (depending on their requirements). - Ask for either Elance Escrow payment - or a percentage of payment upon project awarding. - Just after your bid your proposal - send a private message to the buyer, stating more details, and again, repeating what his/her requirements are in your own words (makes the client feel more important and looked after, I know I did when I was hiring from Elance). Hope this helps, May you find the most profitable projects awarded to you and more! |

Hi there, Well apparently I am an international engineering student in Vilnius, and I been thinking about earning some extra cash with the skills I have in hand, myself.I came across this post so thought of asking for input myself or any help i can in the matter. I am looking for an online side job myself, I am good at data collection and review writing especially for technology columns and gaming sectors. Does creative writing of lyrics and some poetry but I don't think that will get me any cash in the bag lol. I am thinking about oDesk and doing reports and articles. the thing is I am totally new in this area , so would appreciate input of any of you guys who have been there and did get a good cash out from it ! |

I actually considered this before, but it seemed competitive. And I wondered if it is degrading to have such a job... but on the other hand, I think selling our time (aka freedom) for money in an office job, isn't much more respectful either. My fear of being found out by people i know is what stops me.

Hey Agota - it sounds like you are still looking for advice. You were very helpful to me when i set up my blog and you may be able to offer similar advice online and reeive payment. I know you have read through my articles on Elance and bidding sites, but I wuold add that these sites also ask for translaters. Make sure you add that to your profile. Even basic Russian may be worthwhile. By the way your English grammar is near perfect. However if you decide to write articles you can always get them proofread by someone before you send them. Just to make sure they are OK and readable. I have done this for people in the past and only charged a very small fee as it doesn't take very long. Might be worth looking into. Good luck! |
