So I've come up with a pretty unique business model. I'm writing the world's first weekly, subscription-based short story serial. And I'm interested in feedback. The series is called The Savants, and I'm using letterly.net to handle the subscription services. The first "episode" will be sent this Friday, April 25, and I'll be sending a new one to subscribers each Friday. Each episode is around 4000-6000 words. The subscription cost is currently $2.97. I'll also probably be making the first five episodes available for free, both in ebook/Kindle format and on my blog, after they've been published to subscribers. The pre-release edits of the first five stories have actually been available on my blog for a long time, but I recently took them down in preparation for the launch. So, what do you folks think about this? Is this something that appeals to you? Would you subscribe? Why or why not? How could I convince you and others to subscribe? Is the price too low? Too high? Any thoughts on how to market the series? Any other thoughts? I'm interested in any feedback anyone is willing to offer. Here's the official launch announcement from last week. And here's the subscription link. Thanks, guys! Last edited by shawnmihalik; 04-27-2011 at 04:35 AM. |
