Hello, I'm looking for suggestion of a good book/ebook that would teach the basics of the IM/E-commerce. Things like seo, adwords, ppc, various monetization models, affiliate marketing, content creation, email marketing etc..I understand that i'm throwing all the keywords in there, but I'm looking for sort of comprehensive book of sorts. Thanks |

I've seen several internet marketing programs but they usually only cover one small area of all of internet marketing. You should probably narrow down your search if you want to find a really great resource. For instance, if you paid $30 for one month of SBI and went through its Action Guide videos, you would learn a lot about how to build a website with good SEO principles. However, if I recall correctly, their Action Guide does not teach anything about affiliate, email, paid click, video, or social media marketing. SBI is solely focused on the business model of getting free organic search traffic, which it does very well. Is there a specific business model you are interested in? Or do you want a giant overview of everything, before you choose a business model? Another question to ask is, what type of work do you want to do on an ongoing basis to make your business work? Most internet marketing will involve writing lots of content since that is the nature of the web. However, you could also make a business out of making videos, or even perhaps out of making audio files such as audio podcasts. It would also be viable to run a business where you produced very little content, and just ran advertisement campaigns and sold affiliate products. Also, if you are looking to start a passive-income business that is very low involvement after you set it up, then you should probably narrow your search to passive income, and not just internet marketing, since a lot of internet marketing still requires active participation on a daily basis. I agree with what curtis said. I think the best way to truly learn the stuff is to just jump right in. I understand there is a lot of info out there so it can be a bit overwhelming. I am also an SBI member and would recommend it to anyone who is just starting out. It would help to know what specifically you are trying to do. If you just want an overview of e-commerce I think almost any book on amazon with good reviews would do fine. You can even join some SEO forums to get a better idea. If you are interested in actually starting a web business, then I would recommend SBI. They explain all the concepts you need to know to get started. Once you understand the basics, you can start looking at other sites for help. One place that explains about doing online business is smartpassiveincome.com . If you are new and don't want to purchase sbi, that might be a good place to get started. Best of luck |

Curtis, I appreciate greatly of the details you had offered in breaking down various elements of e-commerce and how to go about getting familiar with those. Thank you for taking time for this detailed reply. I will join SBI and learn and branch out from there. Azmat, Thank you for recommendation of SBI and smartpassive..just few hours ago I was on that site and it seemed very authentic and genuine. For a long time, I have not seen such authenticity and transparency in a web business site. That's going to be my stomping ground from now on..:-) I am also considering reading Yanik Silver's 'Moonwalking in Internet'. |
