I'll start selling the kindle version of my e-book on amazon in the coming few days, I'm wondering is there something I can do to increase my sales? For example, if I have a lot of good reviews, does that make my e-book come higher in the search results? Etc. Also, should the cost of pdf ebook on my site and kindle version on amazon be the same or should kindle version cost less? I appreciate any advices, since I'm very new to this. |

I'm in a similar position. I put my two ebooks on Kindle 10 weeks ago and mostly market them on my website. So far I've made 53 sales @ $9.99. Although I can't track which came via my site and which were found directly via Amazon... that would be interesting to know! On my website my ebooks are sold at $9.95 (Lucid Fiction) and $11.95 (The Art of Lucid Dreaming). I decided not to level the latter with the Kindle price because I still think the PDF version has more value in terms of better formatting and you don't need a Kindle to read it so it's more accessible. I see a lot of PDF ebooks priced at $37 or $47 or $97(!) and I wonder how their authors feel about Kindle's $9.99 price restriction (if they want to take 70% royalties that is). Must be a bit of a conundrum. I have also seen a very successful fiction author on Kindle who sells her ebooks for $0.99. I am keen to try this out myself and see if I can supercharge my sales that way... perhaps with a mini ebook in future. In terms of marketing your ebook, here are some starters: - Link to the Kindle edition from your original ebook sales page & homepage - Publish a press release about the Kindle publication on your website and submit it to PR.com - Give away free copies to industry experts and fellow bloggers and ask them to write Amazon reviews and/or testimonials for your sales page - Get affiliates and other blogs to link to the Amazon page, or add your ebook to their Amazon carousel Essentially, get the word out, and get people linking in! I think your listing will rise up in the Amazon ranks as you make sales and get more reviews. I'm still learning too so I'm very keen to hear what others have to say |

I actually got the advice of selling my e-book for 0.99$ on kindle from one member of these forums, but I'm still thinking about it - I mean, that would mean I'd have to sell pdf for max 4.99$ on my site. Does anyone have any experience with 0.99$ strategy?

Get a 3rd party to write a review on a high traffic blog and make them publish their affiliate link to make it worth their while. I've seen good success with other authors this way. You can find someone in your niche and maybe barter the service. Also, make sure to write a coming soon type feature on your blog to build up some buzz and then in another blog post, basically talk about the benefits of the book once released sending traffic straight to amazon or kindle.
