Thank you very much for this insightful paragraph. I am done with "10/20/50/etc ways to promote a blog" articles. You just have to build good quality links - but of course that is a lot of hard work

This is very, very interesting. I've found that some people have linked to me simply because I got to know them. That is great, but I'm sure I'd do better with a more direct approach.

I'm curious about how you ask people to link to you. No, I mean, I know you just go "Hey, you should link to me!"

But, do you ask them to link to your main site on a link page, or specific blog posts, or what?

I've heard that simply trading links can actually hurt your SEO in google, so I've stayed away from a link page thus far. Any advice?
