Hi! This is my first post to the site and I have a question that maybe someone can help me with? I have a website and was wondering how to get more traffic without spending alot of money? After reading through other posts I've gotten a little confused about what to do with my site as its not a blog but a fashion website? So I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for me? Thanks Lilly

Hi Lillylou, You could always add a blog section to your fashion site, a lof of businesses are doing that. Apparently it's better to keep the two seperate as Google pays less attention to business blogs! So maybe have a fashion blog to talk about your fashion business site. There are some SEO (Search Engine Optimization) people on this forum who will offer plenty of good advice and most have their site's in their siganture which you could start doing as well. I always check out peoples sites when reading a post. One of the best recent sites on website promotion i've seen is Practical Advice to Succeed Online plenty of great free advice. What is your site address? Best of luck

try this First put your website in your signature. Go to free forums craigslist it is free. Write articles and go to article sites. Go to wordpress, stumble upon, digg, and other social sites. Those are just a few. They are all free, you can get a lot of traffic if you work hard and stay on top of your work. Hopefully this helps. Good luck.

| I agree with the post of coollikeme. So many people miss the ball park when they skip over articles. These will help place you as an authority in your market. Use those same articles and submit them as news releases. New releases is another vehicle to reaching the masses. News releases are to be news worthy, to where the content would be something that a journalist would place in their paper or website. Promote in the byline only. Continue to make this an AWESOME day! | Start by telling some people about the site URL. Like us. Consider Project Wonderful, too - the returns for me have been very good so far, and it's very, very cheap.

I suggest 2 approaches. 1- Use a SigFile in Forums (like this one) and make a habit of making 1 post per day. Select the Forums based on the number of members, the level of activity and the specific topics discussed in the Forum (you want the members who will read your posts to be interested in your SigFile so they go see the website). 2- Advertize yourself (and your website) on Social Networking sites. The most known are MySpace, You Tube, Flickr and others. There are also business related Networking sites. However, I found that people on these have 1 aim ... sell you something. So, unless what you offer can help these people, I suggest you concentrate on general Networks (like those I just mentioned). The key on these sites is your profile. It has to be genuine, honest, candid. People reading it must want to know more about you and become your friend. This is how people will go have a look at your site. Good Luck! René

I have an account with them and don't see any place to post your site or URL, or mention about it on your custom portal page.

Look at content that is somehow related to your site. Suggest how it is similar to something on your site. Or how your site contains similar material. In the end, find your target audience and talk to them, let them know about your site in some way, any way. Even that link in your signature is something, and it can be amazing how many people will click on one of those links if you say something interesting that makes them curious what else you might have to say.

Yes, Social Networking is the best start on the budget - I made about 600 unique visitors in one week of a blog's life
