Hello, I have found a niche for which people are searching for but there is not content out there. Basically my questions are as follows What is the best way to make a website that would appear tops on google (yes I know this is really broad, but allow me to elaborate) I have a niche that could be filled with a simple single page site, that provides exactly what people are looking for and is not currently available. I have done a basic sitebuildit course and have a very basic idea of SEO. I assume it will be easy to get to the top because this is a relatively uncontested niche, and the top hits do not provide the content needed. So what should my plan be to make a basic website? Should I just use a free blogging service and offer a really basic page? Should I register my own URL? Again this site only needs to be one page. Would you recommend using sitebuildit's brainstorming tool? |

If you want to rank as highly as possible, I would say make sure your URL contains as much of the keyword/key phrase as possible. Also, you would be better off making at least 10 pages dedicated to the topic, and linking them all to one main page. A one-page website is unlikely to rank very highly in Google unless you get plenty of inbound links to it. Finally, how are you going to monetize the website? If you make your own domain you will surely be paying for hosting, even if it's just $5/month. So you need to consider that also. |

To stay high up in the Google list, is that you'd have to pay Google, in order to keep your website in the high ranks, or your website is just getting thousands of traffic, then slowly making your way to the high ranks.

Of course, register your own domain and buy a cheap hosting plan. Seo isn't to be a problem if your marketing nich is empty. Try to register a domain which will be sounded ok with your site's topic. And of course, try to get domain with COM/ Good luck to you. |

There is actually no way to pay Google to rank higher. They don't sell high ranking to anyone. The only exception is obviously that you can pay to advertise on Adwords/Adsense, but that doesn't effect your natural rankings at all. | |

You need to build backlinks to your site. I use wordpress to host my sites. On Wordpress, there is an "all-in-one SEO plugin" you can use. That will take care of your "on-site SEO". On-site SEO is probably only 15% of your efforts. The rest is devoted to "off-site SEO". There are a million ways to do off-site SEO, but it involves getting lots of backlinks, or inound links, to your site. So you should do some research on backlink building.

the poster that mentioned writing 10 pages didn't mean 10 unique pages on the topic. the aim is to get back linked to your original website. this is important because the more people link to your website the higher 'value' it has to the google search algorithm. setting up 10 websites which all link to it, say write a review about your product and then link to the page, will help the ranking. if your product is good and the price is right, i'll write a review on it and back link from my site |

If you're aiming to monetize your page, you should get your own domain and hosting. I suggest making a wordpress site, because it's easy to create and update. Here's my take on SEO: You have already chosen a topic. So the next thing is to choose the keywords. What is the phrase that the people you're targeting search for in google? To get the most out of your domain name, it has to be an exact match. So if your keyword was "searched keywords", your domain name should be searchedkeywords.com. No hyphens. .com is a safe bet, but some say that .net and .org are as good. You should include your "searched keywords" in the page title and in the text. You shouldn't spam keywords though. They say that 1% is good - so if you have 500 words on the page, your "searched keywords" should be included 5 times. (Google aims for relevance, so just make sure that the page is relevant to the keywords.) It's good to have other pages that have similar keywords. Google ranks pages, so you can have different pages for slightly different keyword phrases. The next thing to boost your google ranking is to build backlinks. Backlinks are links on other sites that target your page. For backlinks, you can use forums, blog commenting, social media and article directories.
All these links also bring traffic to your site. You should build backlinks little by little - in a natural and organic manner. Hope this helps. Touko |
