What caused the increase? Did you do something different or was it just Christmas?

and instead of the "donate" page i renamed it "thank-you" page and at the end of each article on my site i wrote a little message asking for donations, and i wrote it in a way like this "donations inspire and motivate me to post new tweets, articles, and videos in a cycle of encouragement and gratitude" something like that but a bit longer and put a link to my donate page on my youtube channel so i did that sort of recently but it was just one person that donated $1,000 then another $1,500, i suppose they felt what i have created and put out there was something really really valuable to them and / or others funny how one person can make you richer than scores of others donating and purchasing smaller amounts but thats what happened dont feel like I'm working, just following my passions and what is fun to me oh yeah and another thing ive done differently lately is exposing my mind regularly to powerful affirmations / visualizations of what i want (law of attraction)

Roxyruby - You're story is very inspiring! I've enjoyed reading through the progress that you have made in such a short period of time. I plan to commit lots of time to blogging in the new year! All the best, Mike |

Wow roxy you seem to be doing great! I've been checking this thread every so often and I can hardly believe you are making thousands per month now! Is the site you are making money from the one linked in your signature?

thanks yes. Last month I made over $100 i have made thousands of dollars this month. I will have to wait and see what happens next month. Yes the website generating this income for me is SociallyPositive.com It's funny that I got told by an internet business expert that the niche of social anxiety wouldn't work and I should only choose anxiety. no I don't think it was S.P, the generous donator emailed me and they were clearly someone with social anxiety who just liked my website and stuff I think unless Oprah or Steve Pavlina got a kick out of pretending to be someone with social anxiety just to give me money and fool me that I really am successful lol |

thank you! the website gets about 80-130 unique visitors per day so about 3000 unique visitors per month I guess? but, a large amount stay for less than 5 seconds!!! about 6 percent stay for longer than an hour. sometimes lower sometimes higher in terms of a website that seems low but when you imagine 80-130 new people physically in a room together each day, it seems like a lot! Adding up my totals for this month I mean December 2010 Donation Earnings - $2,500 Affiliate Product Earnings - $125.37 Adsense Earnings - $9.26 Stock Photography and Illustrations Earnings - $8.07 Amazon Earnings - $3.48 And I also earned a little bit in Bank interest I guess but have decided to not bother counting that at the moment. So this comes to a total of $2,646.18 What does this mean? Does it mean I should take away the google ads on my website and instead in those places place more affiliate product advertisements and donate buttons? |

the largest donation I had received before the $1000 donation was $50 I think so definitely a $1000 then $1,500 donation was totally unexpected compared to the donations I had been receiving

I don't make much either because my work is free for anyone to use, even commercially. It's like what Steve did with his writing recently, except I use the Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution license and I've been doing this since 2008. This means people using my photos must credit me with something like "Photography by Richard X. Thripp." I think you might enjoy writing more than photography, but most articles look better with an image! You could take your own photos and match them up to your articles. Just go for a walk with a camera and take pictures of flowers. |

Roxy, if it comes to that, I think the design layout of your website sucks big time, it's extremely disorganized. PD: If you think I'm being blunt, you must take into account that I'm an INTJ and that of course implies being an ass_hole with a direct, no BS approach. |
