It's also quite a physical job, or so I've heard, so it's not the same as sitting at a desk for 8 hours!
That is correct. A one hour in-home appointment for client=two hours of my time for travel both ways and set-up--on average. And client doesn't deal with weather, fight with traffic, spend money for gas, or deal with check-in or check-out, doesn't need to find and pay for a babysitter, etc, etc.

Most people, although they like a service don't think about actively promoting it, unless you give them a reason. And 15% discount (although maybe not much money) is a great reason!
You're right. I think putting a referral benefit in place is a great idea. Thank you for suggesting 15%. I need a reasonable percentage to stick with!

I based the 4 hours on firefly's statement:

It should also be noted that most households with incomes as high as we're discussing engage in well over 40 hours of labor per week either because more than one person is working, or because one person is working more than 40 hours. Point being, it may not be possible to be in the top few percent of US earners on the basis of working 40 hours at a job that requires less than a 4-year degree. Certainly, economics is going to work against that outcome.
Your lack of understanding of what I offer is evident, as is your belief that I don't really deserve to earn more than a certain amount of money.

It sounds like at the moment your (lack of) customers are telling you that you don't really deserve to earn more than a certain amount of money. I'm trying to help you understand why they're saying that.

My massage therapist has 15 years experience, and is excellent. She charges $70/hr, $95/90 min. She seems to charge average for her service around here.

Default Don't lower the prices

I know many people here are suggesting that you should lower your prices, but my two cents say that you should keep your prices as they are.

Services are subjective and if your services justify the price, people will pay for it. If I were you, I would keep the price same and invest some extra money in marketing and encouraging word of mouth publicity.
