Default Site build it site review

Hey guys,

I just recently bought a site build it site. Right now I'm in the process of getting the content together. I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about the design, as well as the content for the home page.

Would you guys change anything?

How does the writing sound? Is it too kiddish sounding?

Any help and or advice would be great.

Here is the link smoothies-for-health.com

(Keep in mind that it's the very beginnings of the site)

Hey fellow SBIer! Here are my thoughts:

- The yum looking smoothie pic is awesome, perhaps you could left or right align this image and wrap the text around it?

- The background is too much green, IMO. I heard that green is not the best color to use for selling (I guess it puts people in the wrong mood!) Not that you cant have green as your main color. But just dont overload the palette with it - I'd go for a simple white background instead. That will draw the eye to your content and make your images all the more eye catching. You can still incorporate a green theme.

- Your writing is excellent so stay on that track. Can't wait to try this birthday cake smoothie, you make is sound delicious!

I imagine once you get more content up you will build some text links into your copy, to encourage people to start digging into the site.

I think it's a great start.... and you have really captured the spirit of SBI. I think you'll do well with this site.

Yep.. Good start.

The main thing for beginners to SBI is to just get as much good content up as fast as possible. That is the #1 priority.

In the short-term, you should probably focus on getting about 50 pages up before you focus your energy on anything else. The Action Guide says get 30 pages up then start link-building, but sometimes going into link-building too soon can get you distracted from building up enough content to have a "complete" site so to speak.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken I think I reviewed your site already in the SBI forums. D'oh. Or at least I remember seeing you post in there, not sure.

Anyways, you have a good start. Your design looks good although as Rebecca said it is quite a bit of green.

Other than those things.... there really isn't much to say until you have built more content.

Also, I would be sure to put tons of pictures on your site, at least 1 per page. Your niche of smoothies is great for adding pictures unlike some other niches, and adding more pics will definitely help catch visitors' attention.

Actually when it's food related, green, yellow and red are suppose to be the best colors.
