Arrow Help Pay for College

I'm currently in college, halfway across the country from home, to pursue a Bachelor's degree after my Associate's in another field. Money's very tight and I want to setup a way for friends and family, or whoever, to donate money without me having to pay for transactions, i.e. no Paypal. If I could connect it with my Facebook account, that would help. Any ideas? Suggestions?

They could mail you a check. That's about the only way you're going to get zero transaction fees.

Paypal doesn't take out transaction fees if you have a personal account, and they send money directly to email for personal reasons (as opposed to paying for goods) from a checking account. If they send it with a check or credit card, they can also opt to pay the fees themselves (so it won't come out of your money). So, let's say they send you $100, the fee would be around $3.20 to send you that money if they use a check or credit card.

I tried the paypal donation button on facebook, but they charge double the fees for that, in my experience.

IA with a previous poster about a check. That's about the only other way without having to pay any fees.

I think you would get more money if you make it totally and completely easy for them.

Think about them instead of you.

They may be more likely to make a few clicks on paypal than to sit down...write a check...find an envelope...find your address...find a stamp...put it in the mailbox etc.

95% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
