Zachary is on a distinguished road
Default Broadcast Ts

Hi, I'm Zachary Perry . I'm 18 and started going to college this week, and have been trying to use the change as an opportunity to push myself to grow socially and shed some of my shyness habits. I've consciously grown some in this area in my life, but part of what has held me back and kept some of my social awkwardness around me is my shame with my weakness. I have this idea in my head that people will stigmatize shy, reserved people with any degree of social ineptitude.

With that belief, I am reluctant to represent to people that 1) I'm shy, and 2) I'm doing active things (like reading personal development books and articles, watching DVDs on the topic, posting on personal development forums, "practicing" socializing) to consciously improve my social skills. It's a stigma of shame that I attach to my conscious growth efforts.

I asked myself what it would be like to do something completely contrary to that belief. Specifically I pictured hanging a sign around my neck saying "I'm shy. I’d like to change that. Come talk to me!". That evolved into wearing a tshirt with the words, and that evolved into a business idea.

The idea is called "Broadcast Ts", a line of t-shirts for people looking to make their efforts at growth and change public and bold. For example, if someone is looking to increase their skills at something, say (in my case) guitar, their shirt would say something like "If you're good at guitar, teach me a thing or two!" The phrases could span across any area of change or growth or understanding which a person wants to integrate into their lives and their identity.
I’m aiming for this to be a good way to make the person feel more comfortable with their intention, to get used to being direct and public in some way with their intentions.

These statements are short and bold.
They’re extremely clear statements telling the reader exactly what it is the person is trying to improve upon or wants mentoring or advice on or change.
My vision is of someone wearing these t-shirts while walking down the street or another public place and getting approached by people who have something to say about them or contribute.
Direct contact with real people is what these shirts are meant to provoke.
Besides that, proud declaration of what a person wants to achieve is the aim.

This is something I plan to jump in and test, by making a simple website and selling a few of these t shirts, with simple white back, bold black face letters, both online and peddling them in public.

As for this thread, feedback about how to improve this idea, implement it, and what phrases I might use are appreciated.
