Default Should I start Blogging?

Yes, I'm asking you, so don't get cute with me (if you have to ask, you're not ready --yes I am, and I'm still asking you, tee hee)

The survey is anonymous, so don't worry, I won't come "get you" if you speak your truth.

Let's have fun with this.
I'm giving you temporary power over my blogging decision. Yes I am! I'm asking for your permission. Would you allow me to start blogging if you had the power to stop me?

What would you want to see me blog about? What suits me best, in your opinion (only answer if you've had a chance to interact with at least 100 of my posts). I don't want to blog about PD in general, I want to focus on something like Business, or Health or Relationships or LOA etc.

Any other comments....welcome.

Yes.

You already had a good PD/LoA site once before, right? What other ideas are you passionate about?

And is this just for fun, to make money, or both?

@Lucidism, You are correct. As for what it will be for: Honestly at this point I've no idea what it will be for, other than to express myself and share myself with the world

Weeeell, I've only had the chance to interact with you in about 25 posts, so I guess I don't know what to tell you. Hhmpf.

But seriously, it seems like you really want to blog, so go for it! Maybe you might just do it for fun at first as a way to see how your writing develops and what niche best suits you.

I would love to read your blog, whatever it focuses on.

Well - maybe not *whatever*, I mean, there are some things I don't want to read about! But I enjoy your writing and insights here.

In a non confrontational way, can I ask why you wrote that? There are some fantastic autobiographies from philosophers, leading businessman,- works of science to marvel and try and understand- accounts of the lives of worthy people like Mandela- Why on earth would you want to read a blog from midasgirl. No disrespect intended to either of you I assure- genuine enquiry

Sure, you can ask - and I'll even answer!

I enjoy reading her take on things, her perspective and outlook. I often catch myself vibing with a post, thinking, "Yeah!" and I look, and it's from MidasGirl.

Reading her blog wouldn't preclude me reading works of philosophers, etc. I have no desire to read most things by most businessmen (MidasGirl: DO NOT write a business blog! ), and in-depth reading of Nelson Mandela's life does not currently inspire me. I like the personal connection I get from blogs, especially if the writer is as open-hearted as MidasGirl.

Thank you and I accept that's a valid point of view- is it a good reason for her to start blogging though? Is there a good reason for anyone to start blogging these days? By the way- don't discourage her from a business blog if she does start!!!

I think so. You can learn so much from anyone.

Plus, the means to self-express is there, why not?

Yes I agree- we can learn a lot from anyone and they don't have to be rich and famous in order for us to pick up new ideas. I can't disagree that it's a method of self expression either- but is it the best way?

I hate to talk in terms of "value" but since it's a commonly understood word on these forums I will. I just wonder if blogging nowadays is really the best way to distribute your value. To be fair, midasgirl never said whether the blog was primarily to communicate or make money, and at the end of the day she will of course do what she wants anyway- fair play...

I'm just questionning the purpose of it I guess. A few readers here and there might be appealing, but I get the sense midasgirl is capable of a lot more.

I too am questioning the purpose of it

My belief is that everybody is capable of a lot more. If I'm feeling good and enjoying myself, that alone will be good enough for me to keep blogging.

It would be amazing to see a blog about business from a growth conscious person, who doesn't just do everything for money, yet also doesn't disregard the current situation that we (as women and as conscious people) have to deal with in the workplace....

But anyway.... Yes, please start a blog. I'll read it. About whatever you might find interesting to write about.

Parenting would be another one that I'd be interested in right now

MG, I would enjoy seeing you blog about relationships and socializing. Perhaps including some of the things that might be 'duhs' to you as well.

Or maybe you could do a blog in the context of the "well-rounded woman" where you live the idea that women juggle work, home, love, bills, errands, etc. etc. since you seem to balance those things.

But ultimately, I also agree with Brutha, it would help to focus on what you would enjoy blogging about.

Well the over riding feeling seems to be that if you want to blog, then blog. That seems to be the trend here doesn't it- if you enjoy doing something then just do it. Doesn't matter what the point is, or indeed if there even is one- just so long as it "feels right".

So am I right in thinking that the answer to any question, and requested advice is always "do what feels right?"

What about seeing a bigger picture, achieving long term goals and ambitions, short term sacrifices?

Is that what you think the answer to any question and advice is? To do what feels right?

I believe that even a short term sacrifice can feel right. When someone says "do what feels right" (or, to me, my answer would be "do what inspires you"), it means if you can't find a perspective that inspires you in something you do, then you're probably wasting your time.

That doesn't mean you just aimlessly wander about at the whims of your feelings (although that IS one option). It means that when there is something you want to achieve, to challenge yourself to find perspectives that inspire you to achieve that thing.

Actually, there's nothing wrong with "do what feels right" as an answer to any question. What's the alternative? Why would you want to advice a person to do what doesn't feel right?

If achieving longer term goals is done at the expense of "doing what feels right", this is probably why the profession with highest suicide rate is said to be dentists!
