I just wanted to share that I have just signed up as a freelance writer for a company on-line where I can fetch up to $30-$50 per 500 words if they are good enough articles. The categories for topics to write about are pretty extensive, so I can pretty much write about anything I want that seems valuable and topical. I'm pretty excited and just wanted to know if anyone here has done, or is doing the same thing, and can they offer any sort of tips or practical advice for this, as it's my first time doing this sort of thing? It is just what I've been looking for, as my current daytime job is so boring and unstimulating (and smelly in the Lab I love words and I love writing, but more than that, I now have 3 and a half days free with which to write articles, when I'm not working at my other job, so that means I can pretty much make as much money as I like, providing the articles are written well, and people like them...which they WILL Any help here would be much appreciated. |

You need to have 10 accepted articles before they will allow anymore from you, so maybe you can use these 3 days to write 10 really good articles and get the hang of their system?

That is my intention. I got so excited yesterday that I couldn't think of anything to write about...there were too many options, and I'm kinda pissed off at myself for wasting the day, which is kinda why I posted this thread as well, to know where to start. Can I just write about anything and submit it? I started by checking out the other authors and see what they write about, just to get an idea...

When I'm too much in my head I end up not writing much of anything. The trick is getting started. Once you get started, it just starts to flow. Quote:
Optionally, if you can't think of anything to write, just check out the public requests and write those. Not only are these reviewed faster by the editors, there's a possibility the clients will want further writing from you.

Bradshaw, are you still writing for that site? I've been doing freelance for around a year. I've mainly used oDesk, but I've also used websites such as Demand Studios. Demand Studios was horrible, mainly because the copyeditors were ridiculously hard to work with. How does this site compare? If you write an error free article are you guaranteed to get accepted? By accepted, I mean put on the website, not downloaded. |

I considered Demand Studios, but they don't take non-US writers. No, you're not guaranteed to get accepted. You have to write free of errors, etc.

Dammit! I just submitted my first article, which took about an hour to be satisfied with. At first I was sure that it asked for 850 words. Then, somewhere down the track, I got it into my head that it was actually 800, so I deleted some words til it was exactly 800 (including my name), then I submitted it and realised later that I was right the first time, and it was 850! Do you think they will accept it? I know you can't really know...but hey...lie to me |
