Hi all... I am just wondering what your opinions/experiences are, in paying for advertising banners on high traffic sites, in order to direct traffic to your own site... If the advertising site has some kind of dodgy history, would that affect Google's view of your site? I ask because I am planning to use Adsense on a number of sites and obviously I want to make sure I do things according to the rules so that I am not mistakenly blacklisted. Also, I've been considering old domain names (domains out of Google's sandbox) but I'm wondering if there any risks associated with this.

So if the other site has done something dodgy, Google is unlikely to hold it against me? I'm guessing the situation is difficult with old domains though. That could be risky, surely?

Okay, I've decided the best option is to always start your own domains from new. Chooose a really good domain name and just build traffic from the ground up. It's more fun that way, anyhow. I guess it's a bit like buying a brand new car or house. You know you are the first owner - you can't inherit a bad credit rating. You won't get the repo man paying you a surprise visit in the early hours of the morning!
