Default My under construction site. Please take a look.

Learn Japanese Language Free and Easy

As shown in the URL, it is a site about learning Japanese. I have finished the Hiragana and Katakana parts, and also include a picture dictionary section that allows users to click and listen to almost 1000 Japanese words with full illustrations / photos. But the Kanji and Beginner's course parts will take some time.

I want to know if my method can help people or simply sucks.

If you are interested, please also take a look at:
Beginner's Japanese Lesson 1 which is the first lesson of the beginner's course
Fire 火-Japanese Kanji Lessons which is an example of the Kanji lesson.

The free download is ready but I have not posted the link. If you want to get it, please PM me.

I'm not in your market but I like what you have done with the site. It looks clean and the pages load extremely fast which will be a big bonus for people who are trying to learn.

In terms of the content you will have to ask for opinions from other folks. I thought I would at least let you know that I like the look of it and I think you are on the right track

Now, this could be because I'm away from home right now and have a limited online connection, but I can't view your website. Can other people see it?

Yeah, I'm back at home and your website loads just fine. So, you can disregard what I posted before.

My Quick Look Through and Review of Your Website

This may be a little nit-picky but I think Kanji represents both the singular and plural form. As in what you wrote, ''I have made some lessons to teach you the most common Kanjis'' should be I have made some lessons to teach you the most common Kanji.

Likewise, Romaji represents both the singular and plural form, so don't add a 's' to the word.

Right off the bat, I've noticed you have some grammar issues. For example, ''Japanese is such a magic language. '' should be Japanese is such a magical language. I recommend going back through and reread everything you wrote because I'm seeing quite a few errors. Sometimes you leave out pronouns, and other times sentences are written completely awkwardly. With these sentences, I know what you're trying to say, but it just doesn't sound right.

To me, the way you write sounds/feels kind of off, it doesn't flow naturally. Be a bit more careful with what you're writing. There are a lot of errors.

I think you should break up your 'A brief introduction to the Japanese language' into 7 individual articles or parts instead of having them all as one.

I would completely get rid of the Romanji column in your hiragana and katakana lessons because its too temping to just look at that and not pay attention to the Japanese speaker.

I would recommend having a way for readers to be able to download the hiragana and katakana lessons with the audio. This could be for free or pay, whatever works for you.

Perhaps, offer some worksheets that can be bought or downloaded that allow the learner to practice writing their hiragana and katakana.

I don't know how comprehensive you want your website to be, but for the example sentences you might want to mention what polite level they are, or at least make a note somewhere what polite level you're going to be using throughout the website for your Japanese sentences.

Get rid of the Romanji off your website!! There should be no Romanji columns in your tables, no Romanji button to show it.

I couldn't access your forums, so maybe you should have that removed from view at least until you have them up and running.

I would add an about page, so that the viewers of your website can learn a little about who you are. Perhaps, detail some information about how you learned Japanese (how long it took, what qualifications or certificates you have in the language). Whoops, I just noticed that you do have an about page, it's just at the bottom of the page. I'd moved the about page to either the top of the page or add it to the side panel, so that people can see it more easily.

One question though, who is we/us? In your about page, it only talks about you Aiyori, is there anyone else?

End of Review

I hope my review helps you.

JustHopingAndSearching,

Thanks for your review. I will surely do more proofreading.

The plural form of Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji and Romaji is really a headache, because they can be used to mean individual characters or the system that contains all the characters. A good metaphor is the 26 English letters VS English alphabet. Anyway, I think I will follow your suggestion by deleting all the s.

As for the awkward sentence, could you tell me the details?

There are some sentences that are awkward. I'll give you a few sentences with how I would write it.

You wrote:

The main reason why people think it is difficult is that Japanese writing system has Kanji

your tongue enjoys because of the relatively simple sound system.

To read Chinese in the Japanese way may sound like a crazy idea

I forget to tell you that Japanese only have fewer than five irregular verbs and all verbs are gender-free.

As a Chinese myself

And my teachers gave me a lot of copybook homework.

Corrected:

your tongue enjoys it because of the relatively simple sound system.

I forgot to tell you that Japanese only has fewer than five irregular verbs and all verbs are gender-free.

As a Chinese man

And my teachers gave me a lot of homework. (Copybook is not a word I've heard, I would've used workbook, but it becomes a bit much to say workbook homework, so I just said homework)

Once again, I hope this helps you.

Thanks for your advice.

But for copybook, please take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copybook_(education)

And I never call myself Chinese man, just as the Americans don't call themselves American man.

You're right. I shouldn't have used phrases like that. Thanks for your advice.
