Is it possible to make a passive income from an e-commerce website? I sell antique Xmas ornaments, coins and seashells at my website. However, i'd like to get some passive income as well. I've tried adsense from google, but adsense onlly brings a couple of bucks a month. Site's traffic is 150-250 visitors a day. Most of my site's visitors are from USA. I'd be glad to hear your suggestions. Thanks. Last edited by gene2009; 04-25-2010 at 02:12 PM. |

Adsense doesn't make any sense any more. If you have decent traffic then put affiliate links toward products and services that your traffic might be interested in. Also - selling digital downloadable products could be as passive as you can get to it. Fully automated. Selling information and software is good. Valuable information, tutorials could cost quite a bit. Some people do affiliate marketing. I was struggling with affiliate marketing, creating pages, SEO, backlinks and it made me ~$100/mo with lots of hassles. I decided that affiliate marketing doesn't work for me. Then I put 1 page of content to one of my other empty websites - and this 1 page with lousy content makes me ~400 euros/mo fully organically, automatically, no promotion, no content. Go figure.... |

Hello iDreamCatcher. Yes I hear of sale page who whatever reason seems to make money for their owner even so they are not fancy at all. Actually some of them I saw seems to be not pleasing to the eyes! AND still makes money. Maybe people think that a fancy page is a "regular" ad maybe because we are conditioned to see nice images and styles as typical ad. I do not really know but it is amazing. Care to share the link of your page. I love to see it. It seems that you are doing something right! Good luck. Mo. |

I'm thinking trying to sell ad space on my site. However, think it would be difficultly to find a good renter. I've also tried with EPN, but that not seems a lucky idea too.

The way it started was really LOA-ish. I decided that affiliate marketing sucks and decided to cancel few of my domains and cancelled them. In a few days I got email from that company to either sell one of the domain (that I sent to cancellation) to them for a few hundred bucks or become affiliate. I urgently called my hosting company and luckily was able to uncancel domain name. And decided to become affiliate to try. So it happened that I making every month the amount in affiliate commissions that was originally offered for the whole domain. Without LOA - that would never happen.

Judging from the fact that there is a Coin World magazine, there's probably some kind of market out there for information on antique collecting, at least when it comes to coins. Can you create some kind of guide that teaches people what to look out for when collecting these antiques? How to spot a lemon, how to spot a good deal? How to take care of their antiques? Can you prepare a little guide on Christmas ornaments that you can sell when it's close to Christmas time? If you get frequent inquiries and questions from your customers, what are the most frequently asked questions? Put all the questions together and answer them in an ebook or digital product with automated delivery. Or if you really don't want to create your own information products, why not have an Amazon section with related books your visitors might be interested in? Or if you can find a good product that will help your visitors that you can promote as an affiliate, that would work too. |
