Default Entrepreneurs wanted - let's mix online gaming with personal growth

Hi all,

I've been running an online games development / publishing business for about 5 years now and recently I've understood that I've actually outgrown the thing.
So now I'm in the process of transforming it into something much more aligned with my values, some of which are very much aligned with for example the values Steve promotes and that are then probably also part of you, too. And so the vision for the end product also includes some "bring 'make the world a better place' stuff into the game/community" aspects, including encouraging people to communicate with each other in more authentic, deeper, ... ways, teaching and learning important things like leadership and proper communication in a playful manner and much more...

So I'm currently in the process of creating the vision and making it as specific as I can at the moment. And at the same time I'm looking for people who are passionate about at least some of the aspects this project can include because obviously I can't do this stuff alone or at least it wouldn't be as much fun like this

Now... if you're interested in talking about some of those things or know people who could be a great match for this kind of thing and are interested in some of the areas like entrepreneurship, marketing, communication, games design, challenging software architecture and/or development, community management/development, leading-edge web technology, people who love imagining and creating useful mashups from existing web apps like google maps, meetup.com, twitter, FB, tumblr.com, ..., personal / spiritual development, ...
... then let me know and help get this "let's improve the world, while actually just having boatloads of fun creating something really awesome" kind of project going

Oh by the way, there is a really decent technological basis available already, at least regarding the game part of it, which can be found at ageofpirates.de (German version at the moment only though!)... And yeah, one more important idea: I'm planning to take the rudimentary, incomplete English version that was created a long time ago, complete and update it and then get it up and running on a server to start playing with some of the concepts that are being created in the project's vision... so what I'm saying is that there's already a good, very practical starting point available very soon.

Does any of this sound exciting to you? If so, let's talk here, connect on FB, get together on Skype. I'm looking for people with an entrepreneurial mindset and high skill levels in some of the areas mentioned above. Action-orientation, inner motivation, following your passion / purpose / excitement etc is definitely necessary as well If you're well connected to your Higher Self and follow your path at least to some degree, the chances that we would get on really well are even higher

Feedback, suggestions, ideas, ... highly appreciated!

Let's rock!

- Denis

Watch this before you take another step in your game career.

Why not turn LIFE into a game that develops people? That's what I'm attempting to do.

I'm with Sirlin here -- I'm really not sure whether I like and want to support what Jesse Schell is suggesting is going to happen. Sure, it's going to happen to some degree, but I really don't believe in external reward systems and also I'm sure at some point not only I will understand the limitations of the current kind of technology but also most others will wake up and remove most of that from their lives.

But thanks for the pointer, the ideas and perspectives are definitely interesting, even though I'm looking to create games (and communities) that are based on a very different set of principles like internal / intrinsic motivation, the players' awareness of how stuff affects them and their conscious decision-making about whether or not and in what way exactly they want to be affected... just to name a few.

Basically I believe that sooner or later all of us will realize that we're the masters of every single aspect of our lives and with the games I want to co-create I want to aid this specific process and much more. The approach you suggest, or rather have chosen for yourself, is diametrically opposed to that

I've reached the point where "life" and "games" aren't as different as I once assumed them to be.

Our "living" selves are rapidly merging with the "game self" to create a unitary being.

In regards to Entrepreneurship: I think its important that you start with the basics as many devoted sites seem to take lots of prior knowledge for granted. This alone would set you apart from the majority of sites on the topic.

How do you mean that, suit up? I'm looking for people who are entrepreneurs already and want to join forces to get a great project going! I'm not trying to educate anyone on entrepreneurship right now

Marth, you're not a good match for me and for the project. I appreciate your interest though!

I'm totally into this idea and have been pondering doing the same for some time now. I have a blog about game dev and personal development: Grey Alien Games I ran a business software company for 9 years before changing to game development as an Indie (I was producer/game designer/programmer) because it was my passion. Now I realise that my passion is helping people to improve themselves and their lives and I think that games or applications are a great way to help them do that. Please contact me do discuss this further.
