Default The Perfect Activity

I'm looking for ideas on how I can get onto the direct path towards self-actualization. This basically means finding an activity that would be fulfilling for me, useful for many people and profitable as well.

So, I've been thinking - what kind of work could I do where I get to meet a lot of people on a more personal level? I've been doing sales for a while, but it just feels so impersonal and uninspiring to me. I want to do some type of work that involves getting to know many people on a more personal level. Doing employment interviews perhaps?

Basically, the challenge for me is combining my interest in psychology, philosophy and business into something that would be fulfilling, inspiring and profitable to do.

My reasoning around this goes something like this: I want to make an income by investing in myself through study of psychology and personal development. In order to become fully self-actualized I would have to give something back to the world as the product of my knowledge gathering pursuits. In order to do that I would have to find a way to apply the knowledge I learn in order to help many people. So the challenge is finding this activity that would allow me to apply myself fully AND serve many people AND generate a steadily growing passive income.

Also I need to find something to do in order to pay my bills while I build my income on-line and that would *probably* have to be a job. But it feels like such a waste of time to get a job when I can invest that time into reading instead. The only real value of getting a job would emerge if the job allows me to apply myself fully and gain first hand experience in applying my knowledge. In other words, the job would have to be an experience that I can use in order to produce something else that I can then distribute to many people.

Any suggestions on what I could do that would allow me to practice public speaking, learn more about psychology, become a better communicator, get to know a lot of people and also have sufficient time left over for reading about and researching these subjects?

I have a feeling that there is something right in front of me that I just fail to see and take advantage of.. perhaps somebody can point out to me what that something is? ;-)

Yes. Research jobs for nonprofits. If you're really fearless, juvenile detention centers. But there are all kinds of nonprofits, and even if you were still doing sales, it might make you feel good about helping to raise money for a good cause. And don't get fooled, you can still make good money.
