Default Domain name doubts

Hi folks,

I made a bit of an error and registered a domain name before running it by a few people. Now I"m not sure if I went with the wrong name or not. I kinda feel an urge to stick with it because I registered the domain and about 5 variations of it (spelling and .net, .org, etcJ).

Anyhow, I'm running my site as a blog to share my music (not sure what other random thoughts will be on there yet. The blog will definitely have a humorous tone.

So, on to the name.

tastytunage.com

There's nothing on it right now, so no need to check it out.

I wanted something short and memorable, and I think it is, but some people seem to read something else into it

So, does it sound right for the theme, or would you suggest something else?

PS-My name is already registered. Some variations of my name are available, but not sure if I want to use those.

So what?
Might help them remember the name. Your doing music and don't have to have the image of being very serious.

In the future, just know that there is no need to do that.

This is where they "get you" and convince you to pony up more money.

Even Amazon.com doesn't own amazon.org or amazon.net

How excited are you about the domain name?

I would go by that. If your gut and intuition is telling you that it's a good domain name, I'd go with it.

When I registered ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.com some people thought the site is about mathematics, but in the end it doesn't really matter because my target audience knows what it means.

I think you're too hung up on the exact domain name. For example, Steve registered a site using only his name. On paper this sounds like a horrible idea: people will see the link and think "who the heck is Steve Pavlina and why should I care about his thoughts on personal development?" But Steve didn't advertise at all and instead focused on creating compelling, timeless content. The mentions, referrals, pings, and link-backs (and hence, traffic to his site) soon followed. In short: don't sweat the exact name, instead focus on creating compelling content that keeps people coming back and mentioning your site to others. This may offer some insights.

Thanks for the feedback folks.

I decided to go ahead and go with my name+music. That way I can say "hey folks, check out chris dover music dot com

I like the idea of a catchy name, but, I dunno.

Thanks again,

Chris

Curtis,

While owning a site such as amazon.net or amazon.org would generate a lot of traffic to a site, I believe if Amazon wanted to, that they could sue to get you to turn over your domain name to them since cybersquatting is illegal.

Impaul99,

I like your site!

Did you use Site Build It to make it? Did you do the graphics yourself?

This is incorrect. Unless the site content was in their business sector then there's nothing they could do.
